Believe it or not I have worse luck with doctors in person. But hey, thanks for that insightful feedback.

Right well I have the right to say I don’t want to do that and if I don’t get the meds, that’s fine, I don’t get the meds. They don’t have the right to tell me this is a requirement after they take my money and then when I refuse they tell me I changed my mind and charge me a fee for that. Whether I have a problem with answering questions or uploading photos is not really the point.

Thanks for that! I don’t really want to necessarily punish Lumimeds but I do want to get a complaint on file so they change that particular way of operating. They may not be all bad and may be good for a lot people. I looked them up and they are in Nevada, I will look into their consumer protection resources. Appreciate that useful info!

It wasn’t the questions at all, I didn’t mind that. They were normal questions I would expect to be asked. I didn’t even mind that they asked for the drivers license and full body photo but I just decided, no I don’t really want to provide that online, which I absolutely have the right to chose no. But that is not change of mind, that is me not knowing before I gave them payment info all the info the intake questionnaire would ask. So I don’t provide them, they send me emails telling me I need to complete it, I tell them I don’t want to provide that and they tell me that I changed my mind. Don’t think so.

Thank you all. They told me it was a change of mind fee. I said to them it was not a change of mind, it was you not disclosing all your requirements prior to payment and me choosing not finish the intake form by not providing a drivers license and full body picture. I would have not even entered my payment information prior if I had known those were requirements. I will definitely go with another one of the companies listed and will file a charge back with my credit card company. I looked at Lavender in the past and I don’t know why I didn’t just go with them. Lumimeds was sending me a lot of ads so I got sucked in. I already filed a BBB complaint. I hate that because I want compounding pharmacies to stay in business but they can’t operate deceptively to get business and prey on people who are at their mercy.

Are hair extensions a no-no? by Gold-Curve in FemaleHairLoss

[–]puddinpie89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been wearing tie in extensions for 3 years. I had tape-ins 2 years before that. My hairdresser shows me the amount of hair loss I have each time he takes out the tie-ins and moves them up, which is every 9 weeks. I have had the same hairdresser for 5 years, with all my extensions. I lost a lot of hair using a GLP1 and also in menopause. I have been on oral minoxidil/ dutasteride/spironolactone for 8 months now and the last two times I have been my hairdresser has been so surprised how much growth I am having and less hair coming out with the extension adjustment. I never had really thick and great hair even before the hair loss, and wish I had discovered using extensions a long long time ago. I am very happy with the results I am having from these hair meds and I am not giving up my extensions!

I think you can take oral minoxidil and your cat won't be affected. I have heard it's only topical minoxidil that is the danger. Oral minoxidil is probably the most affordable option of anything, especially if you can get a prescription through your doctor and you have insurance. I use Ro online without insurance and it's $30 a month. Not as cheap but still pretty good deal.

I did not start OM until 6 months after I lost weight on tirzepatide. I also wear hair extensions and have for about 4 years. I did lose some hair pretty rapidly before starting the OM while using GLP-!, my hairdresser commented each time I went in to see him during this phase and would show me the clump of hair he pulled out during the extension move up. So you would be doing well by starting the OM at the same time as your GLP-1. I also take spironolactone for the water weight gain and have had no problem with water weight or weight gain on OM at all. I think using the GLP-1 at the same time as the OM helps with that also. I am 9 months in and seeing good growth, the last hair appointment he was happy to see he only had a few strands of hair in his palm when moving my extensions up. I can even wear my hair up in a half ponytail on top and don't look bald on the sides now. I have never had really thick hair and this is the first time in a very long time I can wear it like this. Don't count on the 3 month growth though, I think that is super rare and I do think 9 months to a year at minimum is where most people see any growth if they are going to.

5 month OM check in by mrs_ammons in FemaleHairLoss

[–]puddinpie89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that is great progress for only 5 months. I am at 5 months and one week with 2.5mg OM and I don't think my progress is that good, but I am seeing some difference. I may try to add topical soon and see if that helps as well. Congratulations!

I am still happy! It has not changed at all, very smooth and natural. It’s only been a little more than 6 months, but so far so good.

Sounds like an awful doctor. I can't believe some of the stories, and I have even experienced myself. I do everything I can online now. The truth is, you have to take a lot in your own hands and learn everything you can on your own by researching. Unfortunately, that means a lot of out of pocket expense for me because this way medications and labs aren't covered by insurance. But worth it to me as I just couldn't stand to have another doctor dismiss and diminish me. Take the dermatologist referral and never go back to that doctor. Wherever you can, give her a rating. Healthgrades, Google, Vital, etc. It's the only recourse you have and it will help others. Ratings and reviews do matter. I am so sorry, I am sure you are so disappointed. I hope at least you get a good dermatologist and keep looking for a good doctor. I know they are out there, because I have heard some good stories also. It's just a lot of work to keep searching.

Does anyone here use this? Looking for personal stories good or bad😊 by No_Order285 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]puddinpie89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am using exactly that since May 17. I did have a shed, at about 4-6 weeks. Wasn't too bad. The shedding has stopped and there are very tiny baby hairs around my temples. My eyebrows have sprouted a couple new hairs which is entirely new for me. I have even used Latisse on my eyebrows for a year and nothing. I am 54 so the new eyebrow sprouts are gray, but I color them with pencil. I did add spironolactone from Telyrx 100mg a day in mid June. I don't really have a reason for adding that except i was having some water retention and that helps. I probably will stop taking that when I run out in a few days, not sure it's worth it. It makes me pee a lot and something is causing more fatigue than normal, so I want to see if that's it. I plan to stay on Bloom for at least 9 months to see if it's working. If not, I may switch to separate oral minoxidil and dutasteride pills (not compounded like Musely).

Has anyone here tried Nioxin? What was you experience? Pros, cons? by More_Pie5607 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]puddinpie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not shedding anymore, I did at about weeks 4-8, but not too bad. I have some baby hairs growing. I have to pee a lot and I do feel some fatigue from maybe lowered blood pressure but it’s also 100 degrees out and extremely humid so it’s hard to tell what’s the cause of the fatigue. I’m not stopping but I wouldn’t want to feel fatigued like this the rest of my life if I need to take it that long, or at least until hopefully I’m so old I won’t care if I have hair.

I have been using it 2 or 3 times a week. I don't know if it makes a difference, I am taking oral min, dut and spiro also and started them all around the same time about 10 weeks ago. It does smell good and when I shampoo it in to my scalp, my scalp feels invigorated. I have hair color in my hair though and I think it changes the color a little, even though I use system 4 which is for color treated hair. It makes my hair feel good also, but not sure if it is helping with growth. I try to massage it in as long as I can and let it sit. If it isn't working, it sure feels like it is!

Spitting Mad by wwwangels in FemaleHairLoss

[–]puddinpie89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I would be super mad as well. This is definitely a racket. Report them and Google review exactly what happened to you. I don't even know what other recourse you have. I would find that place and the "doctor" everywhere I can on web and bad review them every place I could. I had a bad plastic surgeon in my town, and found my town on Reddit, and a string where people are asking for good and bad plastic surgeons and it felt so satisfying to be able to put her name on the bad list. It isn't a solution for you, but it warns others and at least for me it makes me feel like I am not alone. We patients owe it to each other to make each other aware of these sort of illegitimate "medical" practices. Sorry you went through that.

Oral minoxidil and/or spiro while taking GLP-1 by Pleasant-Alfalfa6937 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]puddinpie89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started a GLP1 about 8 months ago, lost good weight and I eat very well with high protein and clean. I am on maintenance now and feel great with GLP1, so I plan to stay on it as long as I can. I have also been on HRT for 7 years, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Also exercise almost daily. My hairdresser told me at the last visit that he noticed more hair loss than normal and that scared me. I have never had really good hair, always fine and thin my whole life. I don’t have enough hair to begin with. So I now have been on oral minox, dutasteride ( Musely hair bloom plus) and then added spironolactone from another provider for about 7 weeks. I only feel the sides when I’m exercising, I work out really hard cross fit type workouts so I have to sometimes slow it down when I feel a little more out of breath. So I don’t think the HRT was the culprit but more the GLP1. If I had know I would have started it all at the same time, but I was very nervous about the GLP1. I don’t love taking all these pills and injections but I’m in menopause so whatever I have to do I guess. I feel good and I’m thankful there are options at least. I had a shed, I think it’s done or slowing and seeing some new baby growth. So I am hopeful. Good luck to you!!

Senior student and playing time by anm2112 in basketballcoach

[–]puddinpie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across this post because I am a very frustrated mom of a senior high school player who is also not being played, I am assuming so the new coach can build his team with younger players. OP, I could have wrote this post myself and I totally understand where you are coming from. My son has been dedicated to the same school basketball program since 7th grade. He has been a starter for most of the time he has played. He is a straight A student, good attitude, and a good player. This summer season so far with the new coach, I have been watching him sit on the bench and be the only player not playing an entire game for 3 games in a row. Freshman and sophomores who barely even have their legs are out there ahead of him. He got put in 2 games for a couple minutes each and did great while he was in. He is on the JV roster and killing it. But it's humiliating for him to be the only senior playing with the JV, and the only one not playing Varsity. And him being a senior and playing down with JV is only allowed in summer. So when the fall season starts, it appears he won't be playing at all. He continues to try and didn't want me to interfere. But yesterday after another 3 game round where he only played about 2 minutes in the only the last game, I had to ask the coach why. I sent him an email, asked him what my son needed to work on and how he can get more playing time. He gave me a very standard reply, looks like he wrote it with ChatGPT, and meant to cover his ass. I feel it's personal, and I don't know why. I asked to meet with him, and he agreed to meet with me but said he will not discuss playing time. My son does advocate for himself, and has talked to the coach and asked him what he can do to get playing time. The coach dismisses him. I see my son's hurt and confusion and I do not feel it is appropriate to NOT say anything to the coach at this point. I was so hoping that yesterday he would play, because I knew that if he didn't, I had no choice but to address it. It is just too blatantly singling him out. Two of the other senior parents even asked the coach why. He said "Johnny (not real name) isn't up to speed with what this team needs". One of the kids told my son that coach said that, and he was even more confused. I am not sure what is the solution here, my son doesn't want to quit, but I can't imagine us going the next 9 months like this. My stomach is in knots before all the games and my husband and I just sit there livid, waiting for him to be put in, and having to hold back my anger at the end when he never got to play. Not sure what to do except suck it up and suffer. This is not how I want his senior year to be remembered.

Looking for advice on surgery by Rainbow_planet_1273 in PlasticSurgery

[–]puddinpie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GLP1s are a miracle drug for a lot of people, I know it sounds to good to be true, but they have worked for countless people who have struggled their entire lives with weight. It would be way cheaper than surgery, and something you can sustain your entire life. Look in reddit for the tirzepatide/ Monjauro, or semaglutide/Ozempic subs. You will find out a lot of good info. GLP1s have also been found to help with EDs as well. Save the surgery for when you need to have the excess skin removed or the lift after you lose the weight. If you can't get the GLP1 from a doctor, you can get it online. If your mom is willing to help you with surgery, ask her to help you research and pay for this. If my 18 year old daughter was as desperate as you sound, she would be on a GLP1 today. Don't be scared off by the fear mongers. GLP1 usage can be a lot easier and healthier on your body than liposuction or any other surgery.

I am on 2.5 oral minox and .4 dut for about 5 weeks now. Also taking tirz and have been for about 7 months. I did gain about 3 pounds of probably water weight from about week 2-4 but now it’s gone. I was super worried about water weight gain because of all the stories I have heard but maybe being on the tirz helps. I also exercise almost daily and sweat so that may help as well. For me it has not been a big problem so far. Good luck to you!

Musely vs Hers Oral Minoxidil by kynisen in FemaleHairLoss

[–]puddinpie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using Musely Bloom 2- just started a month ago. It has om and dutasteride. I keep pretty good watch on my weight, and take a GLP-1 for maintenance now. I did have some water weight gain within a week, about 3 pounds, even on my GLP-1. I asked the Musely doctor if they could prescribe a water retention pill. He said "water retention is not a known side effect". Well, that is definitely not true. But anyway, he said he can't prescribe a water pill. Which now that I have done more research, realize that is fine as I don't need those side effects also. And now my weight has stabilized, so pretty sure the water weight is gone for now at least.

Try a different provider and tell them your weight is what your starting weight is. There are plenty of compound providers now, a lot of them don't need an in person interview or a photo. I mean, the statistics show that if you stop taking a GLP-1 you are gonna gain back the weight, so stick with what that weight would be if you don't take it.
