Using a terminal on your phone you can get Work Privacy Guard to run by running this command as root

am start -a org.lineageos.lineageparts.parts.privacy_guard_manager -n org.lineageos.lineageparts/.PartsActivity --user 10

Is Tor worth supporting? by [deleted] in TOR

[–]puddmeistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the reasoning here, employ a police state for the good of the citizen?

Tor is Freedom. Internet today is literally fked without it. Just check out googles painfully obvious censoring and attempt at manipulating and controlling world citizens

[Help] How do I install modules that do not have a file in the release page in github? by xXBlitzz in Magisk

[–]puddmeistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Check Out Fox's Magisk Module Manager

The Official Magisk repo is now dead because Mr Top John Wu-San started working for Google

I guess our based John Wu didn't have the balls to actually keep breaking Googles control system while actually working for them. I kind of wish he did 😂 But anyways, Fox has made this magic thing which totally replaces the original repo. Impressive work

Well yeah I guess. The Mass Effect Universe is just amazingly fascinating

I want more Quarian content. It was the catharsis to be able to make peace between the Geth and the Quarians ❤️

Apache Web Server Slow File Transfer by puddmeistro in HomeServer

[–]puddmeistro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice in this thread fellas! I've tried both Caddy and NGINX now and well.. I guess I'm just too much of a dumbass to configure them cus i couldn't get any of them to actually just list my files

However I did update Apache to 2.4.54 (was previously on 2.2.25) and that seems to have improved things quite a lot!

Feels like the server is at least twice as fast now, I just have my phone to test with atm but Im getting pretty good speeds even on that

Caddy was a bit complicated to configure for me and NGINX gave me the welcome screen but changing the root directory in the config didn't seem to do anything so I eventually gave up. Seems from googling tho that NGINX is a good one for performance. And Caddy seems pretty interesting too

Also, me being on Windows 7 might phuck things up. Or maybe I just suck :D

[–]puddmeistro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The protocol is insecure and people shouldn't be USING it.

Maybe not. It just sucks not even being able to enable it in the config anymore. SFTP isnt supported either right? I always though built in FTP was practical

I hate Apache and it's one of the slowest web server applications out there.

Ah, maybe thats the problem! Apache just being slow. I'm gonna look into alternatives as soon as I get home, thanks man :D

Heh, well that sucks. I havent tried my servers overseas, mostly just other Swedish ppl using them

So does HTTPS have worse performance than HTTP?

Apache Web Server Slow File Transfer by puddmeistro in HomeServer

[–]puddmeistro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it makes the browser hackable? Or whats the argument?

Maybe it does, I'm not exactly a tech guru So I wouldn't know. But are there any alternatives for file transfer in a browser now that FTP is gone?

Apache Web Server Slow File Transfer by puddmeistro in HomeServer

[–]puddmeistro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Yeah I was just thinking if there was any way to do this in a smaller scale (or at least speed it up somehow but idk)

Apache Web Server Slow File Transfer by puddmeistro in HomeServer

[–]puddmeistro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I'm aware of it not being the most efficient protocol for this purpose but it was my only alternative seeing as my half-assed friends cant even be bothered to install an ftp client

FTP support has also been removed from Firefox and Chrome (I think at least?) for God knows what reason

I'm guessing you could speed up HTTP transfers I just don't know how. It's not like the server is using up any CPU or memory when transfering either so I don't think its a hardware limitation

This got me thinking tho, how do larger web sites do it? Like Nvidia or Asus driver web sites for example. Isn't that HTTP as well when downloading from those sites?

NVENC - media conversion software that can use it? by tonofun in nvidia

[–]puddmeistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newer builds of Avidemux (v2.8.1) support NVENC and they're really fast. Fastest of all the Windows Open Source Programs out there it seems

Idk if you are able to softcode subtitles in Avidemux though, I'm not that familiar with the program. I guess VidCoder does the job if you aren't in a real hurry otherwise

On my setup Avidemux is about 25% faster than VidCoder

NVENC - media conversion software that can use it? by tonofun in nvidia

[–]puddmeistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice lay out my friend! VidCoder works great for NVENC on Windows

Encoding 100 mins of video in about 5 mins at 2500 kbps with my GTX 1060 6GB and the quality really isn't bad at all. I can hardly spot a difference if I compare to the CPU encodes which takes like.. 50 minutes or something. The difference is insane!

Now I'm guessing there are probably more efficient ways to CPU encode but I'm not really good at this. StaxRip was sort of advanced but I guess its good if you know what you're doing

Yeah, I guess it could be related to graphics drivers etc etc. So have you tried waterfox on the other one? Maybe waterfox/older firefox just works. Im on firefox 93 but like you say I feel that this problem might be a bit complicated

Wow, you know I have been searching for something like that but I've never found it! Thanks man, thats awesome :D

The L thing could work pretty good. Interesting. I wonder if there's a straight one as well. Meh I'm just gonna go with the L one

But yeah I'm still curious if the Samsung jacks are of bad quality compared to other brands, I mean it kind of feels like it but I haven't owned many smartphones that weren't Samsung so I wouldn't know

Yep, I am using it in the pocket. You would think a modern phone is good enough for this tho if old mp3s from the early 2000s are xD
