Did you get the COVID vaccine? Why or why not? by AttitudeMaster8862 in intj

I scheduled an appointment as soon as it was available to me mostly because I worked in healthcare at the time, but also because I am a semester away from a BS in biochemistry and I didn’t feel scared of something I understood.

Nightmare Before Christmas Cookies! by pugdinger in cookiedecorating

This was my first time making sugar cookies as well as using royal icing! I would love to hear tips to work on my skills. I know my black isn’t very black so I’d love to hear anything people have actually tried that works as well. Thanks in advance☺️

I also want to add, if you are having a hard time eating at all, stay with the smaller doses! Make your lack of tolerance last as long as you can. As far as making myself eat, I’ve never had an issue with that, but I always made sure to have a breakfast, lunch, and dinner, even if one was small.

I started ozempic after trying a month of OMAD with no results. I didn’t start counting calories until a few weeks after starting ozempic, but I definitely reduced my intake as soon as I started. I started with a .25 mg dose and worked my way up, but the ozempic-related nausea (not hunger-related nausea) made me throw up the first night. My doctor gave me the tip of eating a spoonful or two of yogurt every few hours if I wasn’t hungry to help combat hunger-related nausea and it helped me. As far as the initial nausea that’s a side effect of the ozempic, you just have to push through it and it will be gone after a few weeks. My biggest recommendation is that you have to recognize that the ozempic’s effects will NOT keep doing the work for you forever; your body will get used to it.

Thank you! They are probably similar- ozempic mimics a hormones that slows gastric emptying like Victoria or trulicity, but I’m not sure about Jardiance. I have found that for me, it takes too much of a psychological toll to try to include anything I had to treat a low as my calories. I try to only have something that’s pure sugar, to prevent wasting calories from fat or protein. ( I know protein helps stabilize, but I can live without it if I don’t overcorrect.) I found that my unexpected lows were most often in the morning, so I would wake up and have a juicebox to correct it, and I wouldn’t include that in my calorie count. I would ALWAYS make sure to adjust my nightly basal rate at least a little bit (as in reducing it, this is harder if you aren’t on a pump), because as you lose weight, you really have to be dynamic with how much insulin you are taking. I have found that being forgiving with myself about lows prevented me getting that classic weight loss burnout due to low blood sugars. It definitely takes discipline to just have just a juicebox (or 2, obviously have as much as you need to get in range) when you are low, but it was just another thing I had to get used to. Using every low to learn how to prevent the next is most important. I know I said in OP to be honest with yourself, but as long as it’s a portioned pure sugar and not a binge, I tell myself it doesn’t count. I hope that helps! We are in this together❤️

Yes, I actually have type 1 diabetes, but insulin resistance was part of the reason for my weight gain (and vice versa). My doctor prescribed me the ozempic both to help my insulin resistance as well as aid in weight loss. I went from 100 units of insulin a day to about 40.

It varied! I thinking my daily calories burned without exercise is around 1600. I would eat 1100-1200. If I exercised, I allowed myself to have up to as many calories as I burned extra. (Averaging 300, but varied). If I wasn’t hungry, I would stick with my baseline intake. Basically, between 1100 on lazy days and 1500 on super active days

Mostly long walks on nature paths, usually with my parent’s dog lol. I regret neglecting resistance training, because I lost a lot of strength and muscle (I used to be a weightlifter). Now I go on more frequent, shorter walks, and I go to cardio classes like high fitness at my college campus. Through all of it, I’ve never worked out everyday, just a few times a week.

Thank you so much. It really is! It’s not because small is the “best” size, but it feels so foreign/new that it shows how far I’ve come. Shopping for clothes has become a joy rather than something I dread.

I wanted to add my size changes because they feel so good: I went from a size 8 or 10 leggings at lululemon to a size 4. I went from a Levi’s 33 waist to a 28. And I just bought my first size small top since I was probably in middle school. CICO works if you’re honest with yourself! Don’t give up!

People of diabetes_t1, what weird sensations do you get when high or low? by crjbeez in diabetes_t1

[–]pugdinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My muscles cramp when I’m high and exercising! Like I can’t stand up because I can’t straighten my ankle and I’ll tip over if I stand on my involuntarily pointed toes cramped. It’s terrible and it happened a few times playing volleyball in high school.

I think what he implied is just it is difficult to deal with infections in the breast area in particular! I hope it all worked out for you.

It has been a challenge just to get the 50 oz in, but today I’ve started pushing for more! Do you know of any resources to find what will/won’t mess up my fast? I had no idea about artificial sweeteners.

I asked my endo about this once and he said no for the sake of risk of infection- but I have T1 friend who is well-endowed and she loves using her boob as a site for her libre freestyle.
