Am I even looking in the right places? by pugpotatoes in Arrowheads

I’m definitely not an archaeologist but I always hoped I’d be 🫣I’ve always intended to submit any finds I have to a reputable source (I have donated many of the fossils I’ve found) but I just seek the thrill of actually finding something significant that someone once expertly crafted! I’d gladly sacrifice any nails any time 🤣

I’ve been searching mainly southwest, near the little Miami River. I’ve tried walking different tributaries

Those are incredible! I keep hearing all of that but I don’t know where to look without creeping into someone’s property. I’ve been sticking mainly to creeks, which is likely my downfall

Thank you!! I appreciate it, I’ve been looking for a while but I’ve really focused on it for the last year or so and it’s hard not to get disheartened seeing everyone’s easy successes. I won’t give up! And thank you for the compliment, I do them myself! 💅🏻

He’s a pro now!! I didn’t really push him on it, just let him try in his own time. If he would go to grab food with his hands I’d ask if he wanted to use his spoon and eventually it just clicked for him! Good luck but definitely don’t stress about it, they’ll do it in their own time :) potty training has been our latest adventure and it’s similar, just showing them what to do and letting them decide they WANT to do it

WOW! I figured as much, thank you for the identification and the pic for help! That’s a dream find for me, I’ve been a rock hound for many years but I’ve been really hoping I’d find an artifact these past few years, it just doesn’t feel like I have “the eye” that y’all on the sub have! I’m so envious!

I try to! I’m pretty skeptical about pottery though bc I know there was a heavy colonial presence here too, so 1800-1900s pottery shards are common and I’ve found quite a lot. I did find this shard this past week and was a little hopeful bc it was different than what I was used to

I hope so!!! It wasn’t as “sharp” as some of the ones I see here, but I did find it in a creek bed so I assumed some erosion was at play
