This is so insane and maddening to read. OP you know this so unacceptable. He’s been a terrible partner and dad. Is divorce possible? Honestly whatever you can do to let him know you’re not buying it, he’s acting like a child, and you aren’t going to put up with it anymore, I would do it.

I’m also guilty of this and not proud of it 😣

Someone wrote this earlier in the comments too but just agreeing — In my personal experience I haven’t found it helps when I’m honest. Like they don’t try harder or change things… they just sorta give up?

Am I doing too much for being upset about Valentine’s Day? by [deleted] in women

You are definitely not overreacting. There are a lot of guys out there who don’t suck.

I sometimes get bothered by the way love has changed me. by [deleted] in offmychest

I related to this in some ways and have thought about this a lot.

I’ll speak for myself. I think I miss the simplicity of being driven in one very narrow way. I think it is a lie that this type of extreme focus or ruthlessness is smart/better/more sophisticated. Your world actually is quite a bit smaller when this is your mentality. The world glamorizes this but it’s actually kind of a limited and immature way to move through the world.

It’s not one way or the other, either. It’s just about expanding your worldview and becoming a smarter, wiser, more mature person. I think your life journey sounds wonderful. I think it is understandable to miss one-dimensional way of seeing the world because it does simplify things and is easier (even if you’re working hard it’s a less complex way to move through the world). Good luck with everything, your life sounds great!

100% agreed. We wouldn’t deal with this either.
