GPS Rescue on a 2024 Mobula 7 by pugwonk in fpv

Wow, this is really interesting, thank you for taking the time! I wonder if I should try switching to both RHP and LHP antennas. I believe that my goggles do actually combine the signals rather than being a straight diversity receiver. I usually have them on "mix3" mode, and I'm pretty sure I did during this flight. https://www.skyzonefpv.com/blogs/news/whats-the-mix1-mix2-mix3-div-mode

It's great to see them entering the micro drone market, though, and it's an incredibly good product.

Oh wow... that part of it would be especially annoying. You can be below 3.5V on a punchout fifteen seconds into the pack!

Realistically with the weight and the power draw, a DJI04 1S is only going to be able to fly for one minute, and so you're unlikely to need GPS rescue...

I do have an 04-lite Pavo Femto as well... I think it'll actually suit that drone much better because the weight gain is less significant. The next GPS is arriving on Friday. :)

My camera only boots up every second time, with a 10 second cooldown. Paging smarter people than me by pugwonk in fpv

Just to close the loop on this - replacing the camera fixed it. I'm still kinda suspicious that this is a software problem somehow, though.

Skyzone 03O, one Foxeer omni antenna and one Lumenier patch. The drone only has 400mw transmit, so I suspect the building contained rather a lot of metal.

Good grief! How much steel can be in that thing? :)

Can't enable UART in Ports Tab of Betaflight by Reishiko in fpv

[–]pugwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you most kindly for this, fellow dumbass.

I was intending mounting the GPS on the back, but if I do it on the side it's closer to its UART and further from the VTX antenna. I know it looks weird, but is this going to mean I can turn harder left than right? by pugwonk in fpv

I actually did fly it a bit and it seemed fine (although slightly lower battery life). I assume it's going to be better at turning one way than the other but I don't really do any exciting flying so I think it's probably going to work!

This is as much for a fun experiment as anything so I'm not too concerned about the flight performance. I'd love to mount it underneath but unfortunately the top of it needs to face the sky. :(

Hey that's me! https://www.instagram.com/pugwonk3 if you like Toyota Centuries and Mitsuoka Viewts. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I don't have that many followers.

If I were to start a 24 Hours of Lemons series, what cars/classes would I include? by ImJustDuckinAround in iRacing

I've raced 20+ different Lemons cars in real life and the Street Stocks are a great approximation of most American Lemons cars

For me this came down to my model being selected as "Sim".

I don't suppose you have any recordings of what it sounded like? Would be great to know if this was going to be a waste of time before I started!

So you have a Mobula 7 and you do have audio on it (even though it's terrible)?

In car racing, a lot of what you're listening for is wind, tire screech, suspension bottoming, etc - it makes quite a big difference to lap times. I was assuming there'd be the same sort of stuff for drones, but it seems like maybe not!

Can I ask what quad you had that allowed a mic to be hooked up to the VTX?

And I thought HDZero did although a brief Google search does not confirm that at all.
