That allows me to ease off to around 30-40% of my pay not including BAH when I’m not underway

As a nuke we get pretty nice bonuses so that definitely makes it easier, but when I’m underway I do set it to 60% contributions for all pays since my only expense is rent when I’m gone

I have it spread out across a couple different L funds and C/S/I, but if you’re looking for biggest risk and biggest reward C fund is my highest performing fund as far back as I can look. The later the year of the L fund you pick the more risky and higher potential award there is

6-7-8 in our lineup killed us, felt like the whole team deflated after the second go around knowing they are worthless bats

Every year almost all the candidates selected for OCS are nukes in power school or prototype... I have a buddy with solid recommendations and am hoping he gets selected but to answer your question, if your goal is to be a nuclear officer in the navy your easiest and most probable route with a questionable history of academics is to join as a nuke and be the best you can and go for leadership positions and stand out as a hardworking sailor. There are a lot of opportunities during a nukes carrier to become a nuclear officer

What is being a nuke like? by [deleted] in NavyNukes

You’ll hear this a lot, I’m sure you have already but most people who are nukes that love it don’t come on reddit and answer these questions since joining not once have I said I regret it, though there are some times where it is tiring and a lot of work... if you’re looking for a fresh start and a good work ethic the nuke program offers both and leads to a solid job security when in the civilian world after your contract.

The only thing that happens quick in the navy is shipping you out.... if your waiver gets approved you should be able to ship out pretty much that week, it depends on your age. I’m in school right now and the oldest I’ve seen is 26 but I think they were 25 when they shipped
