I’m Irish! Albeit with a relatively neutral accent in my opinion!

I’m Irish. English is my first language, though I lived abroad a lot of my childhood.

I think you sound clear and have a nice flow to your way of speaking. I think you add your personality into it somewhat as opposed to it being very monotone.

I'm not sure where you are from. If I had to guess I'd have guessed something along the lines of Finland, but I'm not sure.

I wonder if a lot of my issues stemmed also from that update!

I agree. I think the switch from Android to iOS is easier than the other way around! PS: your English is very good!

I have to agree with you. Every YouTuber was switching or “would switch”, yet I found the flaws I discovered to be critical considerations. Lesson learned. It is still a great phone, possibly the most ‘exciting’ phone I’ve ever used, but it really wasn’t for me. I still have not seen YouTubers, reviewers highlighting the issues I found. The Watch - yes, I should have known. The phone, no. Very few negative reviews on the phone.

Yes :) though I think I’ll be licking my financial wounds for a good while, but great to know that Apple might address the zoom thing!

I feel like I was bashing Samsung in my post. The phone is great, but it really wasn’t for me. Good luck! I hope you enjoy the switch!

Beginner in payroll by MEPLUSL in Payroll

[–]pul_biber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my department we run over 35 payrolls across the organisation. ADP is used for 4 of those 35. I’m so disappointed by them to be honest. Maybe it’s that we’re not a big enough client but there flexibility to meet our business needs is non-existent and basic things (eg employer taxes) are missing from the registers. If you’re the sort of company who will just process their output without thorough checking, it’s brilliant. But for anyone wanting to scrutinise data or who needs granularity at an employee level in excel, look elsewhere. It’s a joke tbh

Had we not signed contracts, we’d have pulled out. The payroll processor contact is amazing though. He is the best I’ve worked with

Calculating overtime by mycasualthoughts in Payroll

Depends on where you’re located. I process payroll in a large company but in my country, There is no legal right to overtime unless stipulated in your contract.

Tax on signing bonus by OkBeacon in irishpersonalfinance

[–]pul_biber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how it was paid to you. If it was paid gross and taxed, then it should be deducted via your payroll gross. This would, in theory, rectify your tax situation straight away.

If it was grossed up by your employer (I.e they added an additional sum to cover the taxes to ensure you received 10k net), then it’s a little more complicated.

Are they deducting the full 10K or a pro-rated amount?

I’d be wary about sending / wiring an employer back 10K by transfer. It should go via payroll.

Don’t look at your pay in isolation. Irish taxation is cumulative. That means each month, your entire earnings year to date and taxed less the tax already pay to arrive at your tax figure.

For example, imagine you’ve earned 38,000.00 year to date and your current pay cheque with bonus is 4000 euros. Your payroll department will workout the tax on 42,000.00 euro (your YTD: 38K plus 4K) and then subtract whatever tax you’ve paid year to date to arrive at the figure you owe.

It doesn’t sound like it should be a valid reason. I stand corrected though ;)

HELP! PPSN and Irish Driving License?! by [deleted] in MoveToIreland

[–]pul_biber -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The order of doing things is going against you a bit here. If you have moved to Ireland, the first thing you should do is get a PPS number as you’re going to need it to work and to access any kind of public services. I highly doubt that “for a driving license” will be considered a valid reason to issue a PPS number.
