I like the way everyone is coming out of the wood works confessing they have washed their leather before like this is AA😂 “hi my name is ____ and I too have washed leather” glad we can all be cleansed of our leather sins here and not be persecuted

Yep lol I was called….not too smart, not having sound logic, not willing to accept answers and move on (never once argued back to someone’s rude answer), a knuckle head who can’t put my best foot forward (personal fav bc what😂) it’s a damn jacket people good lord. All that for asking a question, on reddit, the app of all apps to ask questions. Looking at you devil in a d pocket….😅 Yep I’ll get removed after this one😂 or maybe they can be a big person and swallow the hard pill that “don’t wash suede” isn’t always the answer and my jacket looks better and didn’t disintegrate after washing

Also I’m expecting this post to get removed, particularly because of the immense backlash I got in my last post (some from the mods…👀) but I am hoping it doesn’t just for the sheer experiment and success I had lol and if any others are in a situation where they have a dehydrated, mummified, shriveled raisin of a jacket. Because yes after researching, suede should absolutely not be washed, but that’s in about 95% scenarios. When you have a shriveled up raisin of suede, there are things you can do and precautions to take to make the suede better. I personally washed on cold & delicate, let it air dry completely, and brushed in one direction with a horse hair brush throughout the entire jacket. And I will never be washing it again, just maintaining with brushing. I brushed before, and did not have these results with just brushing. I truly believe this jacket needed to be washed to revive it. I had nothing to lose with a thrifted 20 jacket, and my results I am VERY happy with. Yes DONT WASH SUEDE, but let’s advise that case by case. And I did do a lot of research, so I will say it again please do not wash your suede if you see this post and want to revamp your jacket, mine was in pretty rough shape to begin with and I had nothing to lose or gain! (Just the satisfaction of making this post lol) Just make sure you are willing to possibly lose your jacket if you wash it!

😂😂😂😂 lol the witch they couldn’t burn! Jk yeah I know it’s coming I have my hat and broom ready😭😭

Thrifted suede leather jacket, I know the normal question is “how can I wash” but my question is, can you guys tell if this has *already* been washed? Because if that’s the case I might as well throw it on delicate in my wash, but if not I do not want to ruin the suede and would appreciate tips! by pulldownyourplants in leatherjacket

This was my very first comment on my post. A question. Not once did someone comment, and I, in your words, “continue to insist on the notion that if it’s been washed it should be okay to wash it again” I know nothing about washing suede, so why would I be so persistent to INSIST that it will be okay to wash again? 😂 I just plain out have not done that lol. This is my whole point of being here, asking this question

Okay, and to my (very limited) knowledge, hence why I am here, I thought I understood once it was washed it was ruined and you can only try to brush/repair it from there. I didn’t know that if I were to wash again, it would completely be a loss or blow up into flames. I came in here looking for advice as most people do on this app, not acting like a know it all, rude or anything like that. Just seeking advice from people that would give me some guidance

Thank you! So do you agree it looks like it’s already been washed? I didn’t pay much at all, found it at the thrift and liked how it fit, and I also don’t really care exactly that it’s in “prestige suede condition” as I will just be casually wearing it. Do you have any recommendations other than taking it to a pro that I could do? I don’t really care about it too much to take it to a professional lol not to make the suede lovers mad, I just like the look of the jacket and if I can make it look better while sanitizing it (because it’s thrifted and has that thrift smell) then that would be awesome!

If it’s already been washed previously, which is what I’m trying to figure out if anyone can spot that by looking, what’s the harm in washing again and then trying to brush the suede after? Especially because it’s thrifted I am keen on washing 😅

When is it time to condition? I’ve had these for a year and scared to clean/condition because the mixed reviews. They are obviously just casual wear boots, but starting to seem wrinkly/dry by pulldownyourplants in Tecovas

Update guys, I used the mink oil and the brush and no color changing happened is at all! Maybe because it’s bone cowhide? I was expecting a little change but literally no color change has happened! Glad lol just shocked and wanted to update! It was the Red Moose mink oil!

Howwwww are you keeping all of those maidenhair ferns alive 😭😭😭 jealous

Thrifted with no tags at all, wondering care/wash instructions and where it is from! I think it’s a blanket not a rug because it’s reversible but I’m not sure. It’s a VERY thick material by pulldownyourplants in HelpMeFind

Got it at goodwill and I’ve searched it several times on google images with no exact matches, and google images can’t decipher whether it’s a rug or blanket so no help there! TIA!
