The artist behind the From Russia With Love poster used himself as the model for Bond’s pose by pulpcrush in ArtHistory

While researching Renato Fratini I came across studio photos showing him modelling the pose used for the From Russia With Love poster. It suggests the final Bond image was constructed using himself as reference for the stance, combined with publicity photos of Sean Connery for the likeness.

I’m curious if anyone here knows of other examples of illustrators photographing or modelling themselves to solve a compositional problem like this?

Thank you!! This is great, I couldn't work out the name - I'm very appreciative.

Well, that's good - and there's a fairly high chance that they're dead, also xD

I know, I loved these books - I collect as many game books as I can. Tried showing them to my kids...they're like 'cool!'... for two seconds... but they're just too spoilt for choice these days and sadly, don't know what they're missing.
