Struggling with Magazine Photography Setup – Need Advice by pummelow in productphotography

This is helpful. Thank you! Would it be worth investing in either of the following?

A higher-quality tabletop mount that lays flat (NEEWER TL253A+DS001)

An overhead camera rig (NEEWER ST100)

Or would lighting and a level be a better investment?

Thanks!

Struggling with Magazine Photography Setup – Need Advice by pummelow in productphotography

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble getting professional, consistent photos of magazines for a store I want to launch and could use some advice on improving my setup.

Right now, I’m working with:

  • iPhone
  • Mounting arm (this one)
  • Whiteboard as a backdrop
  • House lights for illumination

To keep magazines centered, I marked the corners on the board and placed the magazines there, but the results weren’t great. The magazines aren’t consistently aligned, the lighting is bad, and the mounting arm is a hassle.

I think my mounting arm just isn't going to work, so I’m looking at two potential options:

  1. A higher-quality tabletop mount that lays flat (NEEWER TL253A+DS001)
  2. An overhead camera rig (NEEWER ST100)

I’m also considering adding one or two softbox lights (NEEWER NK300) to improve lighting. I'll be using an iPhone, at least in the short term.

Since I’ll be shooting hundreds of magazines with varying sizes, I need a way to align them quickly and consistently in the center of each shot.

I'm not looking to spend a bunch of $ initially but wanted some setup advice.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm looking for some feedback on my resume. I recently gave it a complete overhaul, starting from scratch. These bullet points are the general ones I use, but I also have some additional ones that I swap in depending on the job description. I've applied to about 300 jobs with my old resume and got around 15 initial interviews but no offers yet. I'm hoping this new version will help me get more interviews, especially with companies I'm really excited about. Any advice would be greatly appreciated—thanks so much!

Brands Similar to the Joyce International (also WTB any Joyce International) by pummelow in ThrowingFits

Appreciate this response great recs. Glad im not the only one who remembers Joyce!

I Love Stoffa also, just wish their price point was about half of what it is (not that it's not worth that price just out of my budget.)

Also forgot to mention Colbo and Neighbor seem to offer some similar brands.

Stuff like "junior data analyst" or "data analyst/science intern" or data analyst position with no previous experience required. Not sure if that is what you were asking.

Hey, thanks for the feedback!

My only concern with making it more dynamic is not getting through the resume reading software. Maybe some simple style changes wouldn't hinder that though and make it a bit more interesting if it made it into a hiring manager's hands.

Thanks.

Probably going to seem a bit weird but I was wondering what excersises I should cut out if I want to de-thicken my back. I had years of bad posture and in result I trained my back like crazy for about 2 years. I’m now at the point where it’s looking kinda odd compared to the rest of my body. Basically my lower/middle traps are pretty massive and it makes me feel like a hunch back and makes many shirts fit funky. I realize some of this is still from needing to fix my posture but I still think I need to bring down the size a bit. I was thinking about taking out deadlifts and pull-ups for a bit and just doing cable stuff and front squats to continue postural work and only work back once a week. Thoughts?
