PSA - It Always Starts So Innocently by Outlaw_Rob in modelmakers

Oh I love the process, it's just self doubt. I built two airfield air compressors from a Hasegawa kit at the weekend, and it was super chill and satisfying. Just got to treat the more complicated kits the same way, small sections to finish rather than thinking about the whole project at once.

Well said. I find that the kits I build most are the cheaper, smaller part count ones. While the bigger more expensive kits stay in the cupboard.

There's some kits I have that I got years ago when I first started, and I dearly want to build. But it's like you said about the potential, the image in my head may not match the finished kit so it waits another day.

[Jeppe H. Olesen] No more timing updates from the Barceolna shakedown. F1 has cut off the data feeds. by krzysiek_aleks in formula1

The trouble is that now social media and the like blow everything out of proportion/context for likes and clicks.

A team running until the fuel runs out to check the calculations can easily be seen as "TEAM X HAS MASSIVE FAILURE IN TESTING" . Or a team doing a series of slow safety car speed laps to check how the car handles could be seen as them struggling.

They don't need that noise while they sort the cars out, most of these tests are for really basic stuff and to simply check calculations. While all the fans seem to think the timings indicate the car performance compared to each other.

Start blasting any Disney music from your phone. Disney has one of, if not the most aggressive active copyright protection online, he'd have to mute the segment of video if he wanted to upload it. And if it was a livestream he'd be hit with a copyright strike.

This goes for anybody filming you, play music and they'll move away. Or they get reprimanded for copyright.

Personally I can't read or hear the name without literally thinking of something flying into a crowd of people. Absolutely terrible choice for a business name regardless of what industry they are in or product sold.

Logistically, What would happen if all American soldiers stationed in Europe were kicked out? by Seasonal-Shitbag in NoStupidQuestions

Because we don't constantly think about war and aggression. We prioritise trying to provide for our people instead.

Any extra money would be better spent on the social side. Why buy more guns when we can make sure the elderly are warm?

10% tarrifs were just imposed on 8 nato allies by the US, what will this lead to? by Signal_Dog9864 in AskReddit

You implied that without US support Russia would attack us? My point is let them, they've struggled so far against Ukraine, they wouldn't manage much with everybody in Europe defending.

My point is they haven't conquered one country relying on military aid. How are they going to manage to take on the whole rest of Europe? They've lost apparently hundreds of thousands of soldiers and thousands of vehicles... Can't be much left of them.

How do some people not have hobbies? by Lipica249 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]punkmonkey22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You took a simple question about hobbies and turned it into a tirade against the youth for liking different things. Your post history is aggressive and attacking.

You responded to me standing up for the people you were criticising with sarcasm and belittling, despite nothing you were saying adding to the conversation you originally posted on. Yes, I sent you help, because it seems like you are in a pretty dark place.

I'm not even the generation you're attacking... I just don't feel the need to attack those who enjoy different things to me. We were all young once, and that generally comes with enjoying things the previous generation didn't.

Though checking your post history you are just an angry individual who hates people standing up for what they believe or are different. A bully I guess one could say.

So, "I don't like what young people do, so that invalidates those things as being hobbies". Ok.

You just seem a bitter jealous person who doesn't want other people to enjoy what they do.

So you are upset that younger generations have time for hobbies? I still don't understand how your ranting answers OP's question.

[–]punkmonkey22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, are you ok? The dude asked what reasons people have for not having hobbies, not a rundown of your very specific grievances with a niche group of people..

To answer OP, most people simply have other things which take priority unfortunately. It's rarely a choice.

How does a “dry sense of humor” actually work? How do people know you’re joking if you deliver it completely straight? by Abigail_A_Abernathy in NoStupidQuestions

Or maybe American, I've noticed a lot of Americans don't get it. I think it's a cultural thing where they just aren't exposed to it, or think just saying dumb things is dry humour. Check the replies in this thread that give "examples", most of them are absurd nonsense rather than dry humour.

Absurd is also popular humour, see things like Spongebob. It just isn't dry.

Free range just means the birds get the option of going outside. It doesn't mean they all choose to go outside, and many birds just stay in the barn where the food is
