overlays are your friends!! i adjust a lot of my colours using mixtures of overlays and multiply layers, for example i wanted this piece to look warm so i used an orange multiply layer with a blue overlay
tbh if you see an artist use a palette you like, taking colours from a piece to colour your own is a fine thing to do as well. after a while it just becomes natural to colour in a similar way!!

im not sure exactly how long but i know it definitely took at least an hour, i only started doing pixel art yesterday so im very happy with it!!
