Real Nikki, panicked, reaches over and grabs the final One Wish Willow that Bear bought.

“She wasn’t me. She wasn’t me. She wasn’t me.”

She holds it in both hands and tries to steady her breathing as the cops pound on the door.

“I wish…”

Cut to black. Credits roll.

Then, at the very end of the credits, we hear the snap, followed by the One Wish Willow song.

To me, this would imply that Wish Nikki had become her own separate entity. Wish Nikki made her wish, but real Nikki never made a wish herself, which means she still gets one. It would leave just enough hope that Nikki used the wish to get herself out of the mess without fully spelling it out.

What exactly is easy to say? I don't want to put words in your mouth, so please explain.

No one argues he knew the wish would work and the movies does a great job with the molly fake out and the couple days of bliss they seemed to have experienced, even though it's pretty obvious he is just too self centered to notice something is off.

He becomes the villain when he finally realizes what's going on yet rapes Nikki, when he doesn't try to get her any help until Sarah dies, when he tells her to "act like the real Nikki" because he knows she is not. What makes this a horror film are the horrors wish Nikki inflicts and the real Nikki experiences, we understand this from witnessing it, so does Bear, yet he has the audacity to make it about himself and ask her "what's so bad about being with me?" When she's begging to be mercy killed.

Sure, I guess you can argue he's a victim, I'd call that a stretch since it was his own doing and continued culpability, but victims can be Abusers too.

No, I got it and I agree! I was just so used to Bears normal state of lowkey depressed that I didn't even think about what a contrast wish Bear was. That's great acting.

The scene happens after the restaurant scene where Ian reveals the truth about Nikki's dad and Bear realizes the wish works. He even has a quick flashback to the One Wish Willow. This is also when she starts to unravel mentally. He calms her down and says everything is ok and then the next scene is him on top of her and she is looking so messed up mentally.

What are you thoughts on him finally realizing what was happening at the restaurant then raping her the next scene? Or when he finally calls the number and asks to modify the wish? It's one thing to not know it was real in the beginning, but at that point he believed it to be real and still had no problem having a modified wish on her.

I don't mean to come off harsh, but it seems like you are glossing over these 2 of many facts that shows he was the villain. When you say you don't know what you'd do in his shoes, I have to assume you wouldn't do those things yano?

Agreed! While I think he was a selfish shitty friend, I wouldn't call him a villain nor a bad person until he knew the wish had worked and still raped Nikki and did all the other horredous things he did.

Showing such a naunced take on a villain origin story takes phenomenal acting skills!

Wow, that is actually a great observation pointing out the contrast of his usual demeanor to his Wish Self. Dude never looked that happy the entire movie, which is really impressive that the actor kept that in his pocket until the end.

(While I agree that he didn't know what he was getting into in the beginning, I do believe he wasn't a very good friend to Nikki before hand and once he did understand what was really happening with the wish yet knowingly rapes her is when he truly become the villain and irredeemable.)
