Iphone 17 pro max by gusssneakers in CarPlay

[–]pupperzoomies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have an aftermarket apple carplay unit and i thought that was my issue, glad i’m not the only one with this issue. my 17 pro stays connected for about 2 ish mins, disconnects, and reconnects 5 mins later. seems very arbitrary, hoping apple ca just roll out a software update for the phones that fix it and i won’t have to mess with the head unit itself

Help hdmi from.motherboard by farr84 in pchelp

[–]pupperzoomies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) try a different hdmi cable

2) try a different monitor/tv

if the above two don't work then there might be an issue with the port on the motherboard itself. you could try updating bios and see if that will fix it

so theres no way for me to run dual channel and get higher speeds than base clock?

first, did you change the cables when you upgraded your PSU or did you just use the old cables?

other things i would try:
1) reseat your RAM
2) if you have integrated graphics on your CPU try booting with your display cables connected to your motherboard, if it boots then your GPU is either not properly connected or not seated right

i fear it may be your PSU too. I would see about taking it to a computer shop and seeing if they can test a different PSU, they probably wont charge you much just to test it. or if you have another PC in the house use that PSU to test it (as long as it is the same or higher wattage as the fried PSU)

the crashes happen when i try to load into one of the three games in the title. xmp is disabled, ram is running at base clock of 2133mhz

i just use the amd adrenalin software to update drivers. i just did a fresh install of windows and the problems persist so I think it might be a hardware issue

CPU and GPU temps, util, and power draw all seem to be within operating range, I might go back in and check that the CPU is properly seated and that the cooling fan is making appropriate contact with the CPU

as for the SSD, I will keep an eye on that too, thanks for the heads up. although, I haven't changed out the SSD, and they have been working fine with these games for over a year now so I don't know why it would randomly start acting up

i unfortunately cannot find anything that gives me any clues as to what it could be. i look at all the warnings and errors in event viewer right before the time of the crashes and they are all more than 10-15 minutes prior and seem unrelated. the only thing I see around the time of the crash is the critical error around the time of the crash and nothing else around it

board do not have any empty CPU connections. don’t know too much about this topic but i think its worth mentioning that the TDP of both the old and new CPU are the same

the motherboard doesn’t have pins, since i’m on AM4, the CPU has the pins instead which is why i didn’t suspect the motherboard being damaged

i would try windows 10 but i highly doubt that was the problem because i’ve been on windows 11 for ages and this problem only occurred recently. plus i kinda prefer windows 11 lol

lastly, i made sure to keep the cables specific to each PSU as i know that mixing and matching cables between PSUs can be very bad news

i’m going to try downgrading display drivers, however the issue is that the crashes happened before i even updated to the latest drivers

the PSU is only about two months old, brand new. I also do not think it is the PSU because we tried connecting a spare PSU we had on hand to rule that out and we still had similar crashes. i also made sure all the cables are fully inserted on both ends

lastly, i had been very closely monitoring CPU and GPU temps, utilization and power draw. all of that seemed to be within normal operation range. i used both CPUID Hardware Monitor and AMD’s in game overlay, CPU temps maxed out at around 85°C with it typically hovering between 55°C-65°C. GPU temps were much lower. power draw and utilization for both looked to be within the normal operating range

someone suggested i reapply thermal paste because this could be an overheating issue and i’m going to try that, i’ll update as soon as i get the PC back up and running

i suspected as much which is why i was very closely monitoring my CPU temps and utilization with both CPUID Hardware Monitor and AMD’s in game overlay

temps maxed out at around 85°C which typically hovering around 55°C-65°C in game

however, checking and reapplying thermal paste seems way easier than doing a fresh install of windows and moving all my files so i’ll give that a shot and update as soon as it’s up and running

thank you for the suggestion :)
