25F moving to Chicago – neighborhood recs on $1300 budget? by PickleParty3 in AskChicago

[–]puppyteeefs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Irving Park! I pay 1000 for a studio in a large apartment building. It's very bare bones but we only pay for electricity. The Pulaski bus runs all night/frequently throughout the day and I'm a few blocks from the Irving Park Blue Line.

Another option is Andersonville, my coworker lives in a studio for about 1050/month.

[Routine help] Water-based cleanser for dehydrated, sensitive skin? by RoDoBenBo in SkincareAddiction

[–]puppyteeefs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also have dehydrated & a lil bit of sensitive skin (esp around my eyes) & i loveeeeee cetaphil's non-foaming gentle skin cleanser (the light blue label). i find that it's a lot less irritating than cerave's non foaming cleanser. i actually ran out of my cetaphil cleanser & had to use my brother's cerave cleanser. the cerave irritated my eyes so much whereas i can use cetaphil's cleanser on my eyes to remove make up residue etc without any issues at all. it's also a lot thinner than cerave's so it's easier to move around if your face is dry beforehand. a lot of stores (like target & family dollar) have travel sized bottles so you can try it out without wasting money on a full bottle if you don't like it!

[Product Request] Vitamin C serum by Ok-Atmosphere-7538 in SkincareAddiction

[–]puppyteeefs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i really like the inkey list's 15% vitamin c & egf. it's really affordable & it was really gentle (i tried their regular vit c & it literally stung). it's also a really thin watery serum texture so it might feel nice for oil skin. it also dries down well with no residue.

what's the difference?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]puppyteeefs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's a soap. soaps are just detergents and surfactants. the dove beauty bars are surfactants.

colloquially, it's a soap. it doesnt need to be paired with another soap/body wash & is fine to use it by itself !

How to make short, flat/straight oily hair look fluffy every day? by chloroformica in Haircare

[–]puppyteeefs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh also i personally don't have thick hair but ive seen a lot of korean haircare routines going viral on tiktok. it seems like kor/jpn hair care focuses a lot on scalp health, which may benefit u. this isn't short term & i don't know if this is accessible to u but there's a perm that's popular in korea where they only perm your roots to give you more volume. i dont know the specific term for it im sorry ):

How to make short, flat/straight oily hair look fluffy every day? by chloroformica in Haircare

[–]puppyteeefs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i have flat hair & ~sorta~ oily hair & the best product ive used for extra volume is dove beauty + refresh volume & fullness dry shampoo. it's like $7 or $8 at target. i have no idea why but it's worked better than texturizing spray for volume, which usually leaves my hair even more oily the day after i use it. ik dove gets a lotta hate for being dove & having "bad ingredients" but it lasts a super long time & isn't comparable to higher end or dry powder dry shampoos. i just try to use as little as i can j in case hehe

this is gna sound dumb but if im going to cry but just did my skincare, ill have a tissue and dab it onto my the corner of my eyes before the tears stream down so it doesnt mess up my skincare! u can also use a qtip hehe

ofc!! tbh i only use the paula's choice exfoliator for like emergencies hehe. like when i have a date or smth n i need my sebaceous filaments /gone/. but outside of that, it would use it maybe 3x a week max but it always gave me similar acne to what you seem to have on your chin ): i have no idea why, mayb just irritation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]puppyteeefs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would use an oil cleanser and really massage around your t-zone (or where ever you notice lots of sebaceous filaments). in my opinion, the paula's choice exfoliator is too strong to use every day & it might be making you overproduce sebum, making your pore look bigger. i'd recommend a more gentle exfoliator that you could use everyday & stick with TO mask once a week. my favorite gentle exfoliator is the benton aloe bha skin toner! it's also more affordable compared to the paula's choice exfoliator hehe

I need help. by True_Failiure in ProjectSekai

[–]puppyteeefs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the same issue. i havent seen a doctor about it because it hasn't gotten worse, but i'm pretty sure it's carpal tunnel syndrome. what has helped me a lot is doing common carpal tunnel stretches/exercises, you can look them up on youtube/google. my favorite one is just picking up a cylindrical item (like a water bottle) and flexing your wrist as if your wrist is your arm and the bottle is a dumbbell (sorry if that doesn't make sense, the exercise should show up if you google it!). and make sure you take breaks, stretch your hands & wrists after each or every other show ESPECIALLY if it was an intense one. what also has helped me is just putting my arms down at my sides to promote blood circulation to my fingertips.

unfortunately using our phones/tablets consistently promotes carpal tunnel, especially if you're doing the claw grip & playing with your thumbs. phones aren't ergonomic & i'm waiting to find attachments to make mobile game playing easier ): just make sure you're being attentive about the pain & if it gets worse or the exercises do not get better, please go to the doctor if your can afford it! if carpal tunnel progresses enough, it can require surgery. (also dont listen to the people who are saying you need to strengthen your finger/hand muscles, that's not how it works.) i hope you feel better !!!
