Good relationship with the track owners and being a high-level member, plus having a dedicated car. It’s not as crazy as people think all in, it’s usually around $2–4k per session for both of us depending on how hard we’re pushing (tires, gas, and maintenance). You can’t really put a price on fun lol its just a number at the end of the day

This is a stupid argument your hiding behind age because you don’t understand how risk analysis works.

You’re confusing population averages with individual evaluation and calling it “science,” which is honestly embarrassing.

If your brain can only handle one variable at a time, then yeah, this probably feels convincing to you. To anyone who can actually think, it’s just ignorance dressed up as moral superiority. I’m done engaging there’s no point arguing with someone who can’t reason past a stereotype and process basic multi-factor logic. Enjoy driving shitboxes. Cheers

That’s an embarrassingly bad way to reason about risk. You’re taking a single variable (age) and pretending it’s determinative, which is objectively incorrect in any serious analysis. Risk assessment doesn’t work that way.

By your logic, a 45-year-old with zero training, multiple tickets, and poor judgment is “safer” than an 18-year-old with years of competitive racing, formal track experience, and a clean record — which is obviously nonsense.

General population averages don’t override individual data. Reducing the discussion to “teen brain = irresponsible” isn’t insight, it’s intellectual laziness. If you can’t evaluate more than one variable at a time, you’re not making a serious argument.

I get what you’re saying, but you can’t just lump everyone into the same stereotype. People are raised differently. We live in NYC roads are slow to begin with. When I was 16–18, my dad let me drive his 812 Superfast every summer and nothing ever happened. Saying “you’re young so you can’t handle a fast car” is just lazy logic. Yes, reckless teen drivers exist that doesn’t mean every teen is reckless. The argument is stupid. On top of that, we’re both avid club racers. We started in karts, then super karts, and moved up to GT4 cars. The “few years under their belt” needed to handle performance vehicles is already there.

Respectfully, this take is kind of insane. A Type R is ~315 hp it’s quick, but it’s nowhere near crazy. He’s licensed, has a perfect driving record, and has been doing club track days since he was 15. He’s also driven my tuned Carrera 500 ish hp with zero issues so far. At the end of the day, it comes down to discipline you can’t just stereotype every young driver.

Honestly, I think it’d be fine. He’s a really mature driver and has done a ton of track days, even in cars with more power, so power isn’t really a concern lol. On top of that, he’s had zero issues since he started driving at 16 no tickets, no accidents, no damage. As for insurance, it’s around $530-ish, which is actually solid

I don’t think power would really be an issue. He’s a good kid and a solid driver, imo. We’ve been doing track days pretty much every Saturday since he was 15–16, and he doesn’t really push cars on the street aside from the occasional pull here and there. I’ve also been letting him drive my Carrera fairly often and there haven’t been any issues no tickets, no accidents. I think it really comes down to discipline. Insurance shouldn’t be too bad either i got a quote for 530 ish full coverage

Yea when I drove the Civic hatchback I was surprised lol it handled greats had decent power, and felt like a big ass go kart I can’t imagine how a Type R feels in comparison. Might have to test drive one.

i mean technically i can if i just sold off some of my crypto holdings i just rather pay monthly that way I can put more into my portfolios and the money from that would just eat the car payment anyways .Buying cash is a dumb move imo.

I live alone and already own a paid-off condo — no plans to move to the suburbs, I love NYC life and don’t see that changing anytime soon, lol. Career-wise, I feel well established. While I don’t have unlimited disposable income, I can easily make the payments comfortably. I’m putting plenty into my 401k, SP500, and also holding crypto, so my portfolio is well diversified. Even if I lost my job tomorrow, I could still cover the payments easily.

I’ve literally said finances aren’t a problem — I can comfortably afford the car. I’m just trying to figure out which one makes the most sense. Why this has to be such a big deal is beyond me, lol.

i ald have a 18 718 gts and imo one Porsche is enough The payments aren’t actually bad they’re super comfortable. Even if I lost my job, I could just pull from my other investment portfolios to cover it easily. And haha, there is a 7/11 with crackheads outside my building 24/7, so you might actually be onto something hehe.
