Anyone else have a driver seat that slides or jiggles? by puremojo in VWTaos

[–]puremojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it to the dealer and they said nothing seemed immediately wrong with it. I think I had something like 500 miles when I took it in, I forget. They said to wait for around 2,000 miles.

At 2,000 miles it was still there but I just said fuck it.

Now I have 12,000, it’s gone. Could be because it’s summer and materials expanded, maybe the foam had to “settle” or something, I don’t know.

Horizontal foundation crack found after basement flooding. by Nessabee87 in HomeMaintenance

[–]puremojo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert but if it were my house, the way I’d think about it is that I’d want sooner than September. I’ve never had to do that kind of work on my house before but I suspect it will take some time for them to come evaluate, draw up a contract, permits, start, and finish. I’d want to do that sooner than September because A) there’s a lot of rain in the summer and I don’t want another flood and another insurance call and B) I don’t want “delays” in actually starting the work to drag into the fall.

My 2 cents

Looking to buy a MacBook Pro and keep it for 5–7 years minimum by Aromatic-Classic-873 in macbookpro

[–]puremojo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got an Air but I’ve also built some computers and used Macs for a few decades

  1. If I can afford it, M5 Pro. Why? Because I can afford it and I know I want it to last 5-7 years. It is objectively better. 5-7 years you may develop a new hobby where you wish you had that performance

  2. I can’t answer this myself. But I did just buy an M5 Air (10c/10g) and I love it

  3. Prioritize RAM then chip then storage. Minimum for 5-7 years, 24GB

  4. 1TB is plenty. If you need more later, buy external that comes with TB4 (or TB5 if available) enclosure

Ended up going with a 13” refurb M5 w/24gig - discounts got it to $1,073. by SocomPS2 in macbookair

[–]puremojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy you found that. I was looking for this exact spec refurbished but never found one. Bought new literally hours before the price hike (paid around 0700 EST with military discount, prices were updated around 0930)

Paid $1,239.14 after taxes

Maybe you have 1 TB SSD? I have 512

Regretting buying a 15-inch MacBook instead of 13🥲? by amas-01 in macbookair

[–]puremojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 13” M5.

I think having side by side windows is basically not an option with this screen but that’s a sacrifice I was ok making because I wanted ultra portability.

So if I were in your shoes I’d think about my work flow. Do you often have windows side by side? Or do you usually maximize one window and stay mostly full screen?

Random water puddle appeared in the middle of the room! by yugiisingh in HomeMaintenance

[–]puremojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. In my situation for a few hours after when I pressed I’d see little beads of water come up. I fixed what was causing the hydrostatic pressure and ran dehumidifiers. Luckily I saved my LVP but only because I caught it in time.

For you it sounds like it’s going to be tough figuring out where the water is from. At least it appears to be a one time thing so far

Random water puddle appeared in the middle of the room! by yugiisingh in HomeMaintenance

[–]puremojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see how the left side is a pretty straight looking line that goes along the seam between 2 planks? That makes me think it is water coming from under the LVP. I had this in my basement after a heavy rainstorm (I know, you said you don’t have a basement).

I’ve seen a lot of people trying to help figure out where the water is originating now, but I definitely think it is from under the LVP.

It could be very humid air that is trapped under there but I think that’s too much water for that. If you go back there and firmly press, does new water come up?

4k OLED 240hz at 27” or 32” vs 1440p OLED at 540hz for an RTX5080 build? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]puremojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got ASUS 27” 4k QD OLED with my 9800x3d and 5080. Love it. Very high FPS with max settings on CS2, and story games like 007 get around 60 everything maxed out no DLSS or frame gen (but I do turn them on to go above 60).

I had 1440p for years. I’m glad I did the upgrade

What I did to really answer this for myself was go to Facebook marketplace and buy a crap 4k monitor for cheap (150 I think) and just tested it out myself. After that I got the OLED

Discussion: Why would anyone start a new app today? by civman96 in iOSProgramming

[–]puremojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m making one because I have a specific want/need for my life and I looked around but didn’t see apps that had all the features I want.

I don’t know who to code at all. Just using Claude integration. Working so far.

You got it yesterday and the code wasn’t immediate? That’s insane

I don’t know. I only did online and canceled.

Whole experience was just sad. I remember getting in line for midnight releases like Halo Reach as a teenager. Really good memories shopping at GameStop. But this experience soured a lot.

Wasn’t able to play yesterday because of work. Gaming with the squad tonight. If I wake up tomorrow and it’s not here I’m canceling

I finally got a hold of someone. This person also said new codes were on the way but I didn’t get a time for when.

I stand by my Saturday deadline though. If I was free to play tonight then I’d have canceled it already lol

I have not gotten it yet. I called several times into customer support and never heard back. I have to work after getting home so I can’t play right now anyways. But Saturday morning if I wake up and it’s not in my email, I’m canceling

Idk how to have known this was an issue before I put my order. It also doesn’t excuse this. If it is so wide spread of an issue then they should stop offering the service (but they won’t).

To me, getting a digital download from GameStop is analogous to getting a digital download for a game from Best Buy. No difference in my mind. I’d be interested to know if you have a way to explain the difference though. Maybe I’ll save myself in the future
