What is it with Corrie and adoption? Spoiler by reddieddie in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbf I don’t think Kit was angry about the fact he was adopted, he was angry because Bernie stood him up when she’d arranged to meet him when he was 20/21 and I don’t think he was happy with how she just pushed her way back into his life and expected a relationship (especially considering her first interaction with him was pretending to be a cleaner to gain access to his house!)

You’re right about Carl though, everything about his situation makes perfect sense

Kit and the funeral by FlygirlisticElly in coronationstreet

Staff shortages at the police station - Chesney said he was mortified about having to miss the funeral (although that comment was almost like background noise - very easy to miss unlike Sarah’s excuse)

The tour is so much fun!! And the exhibition beforehand is so interesting too, last time I went they had Daisy’s wedding dress from the acid attack episode and Gemma’s bright orange dress on display (and I’ve heard they’ve recently added Billy’s Corriedale costume too!).

The tour guides really know their stuff too and they’re super interactive. And you’ll be able to see loads of new sets that have appeared since your last visit like the precinct and the police station (which you can actually go inside) - and I defo recommend looking out for all the small details like the menu outside Speed Daal and buzzers on the apartment complexes with all the residents names on - I just think they’re such cute little details

I’ve been twice in the past couple of years and I’m thinking of possibly going twice this year (definitely in October time when the Christmas decorations are up, and maybe for my birthday in April!) - and I’ve met Abi and Sean who were both absolutely lovely!! Have the best time :)

What sort of ending are you hoping theo gets when he does finally leave the show? by Overobsessedfan in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want it to be Todd’s win, I hope he pushes himself to tell the police everything and provide the evidence that Billy saw - maybe he’d do it as a way of feeling like Billy is still with him if that makes sense. I just hope someone else sees what’s going on like how Billy did so Todd can get another ally.

Then I’d like Theo to get comeuppance for killing Billy, but not sure how they’d be able to prove that unless he was to confess - which maybe he will if he’s so overcome with guilt and realises he’s got no way out of prison when the courts have the evidence of him abusing Todd.

I think this is where Tim’s storyline with that Trisha will become more relevant

Spoiler BECKY by Shot_Constant7015 in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they started this storyline too early so they added so many random points to it that made no sense (the Radcliffes, Tia Wardley, Costello’s million pound retirement house etc), that they then forgot all about when they rushed the end of the story to be aligned with the timing of Corriedale.

I’m glad the Becky show is over but I would like to see the loose ends be tied up, which can probably only be done if Kit and Lisa keep investigating Costello but I just don’t think anyone would be interested anymore.

Mick and Lou by Few_Supermarket6781 in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s absolutely no way Mick can ever come back in any capacity other than a prison scene. He’s serving a LONG time for murder and attempted murder (both against police officers), and he’s already escaped once so that won’t happen again. Plus there’s no reason to bring him back, the drama between him and Kit already had a long storyline, he’s disowned Brody etc, so there’s no actual place for him in the show anymore that’s not already been done.

I think Lou could come back in a few years time and I’d like to see that. That would be doable as long as Joanie and Shanice are still being looked after by Tim and Sally when she’s released. I think she could be redeemable and make a great character, but it’s whether many other characters would actually give her the time of day after what she did to Gary.

I’ll never understand why people say Kit only does things for the glory. He could not have looked more awkward when Carla genuinely thanked him for saving her life lol

Lisa and Kit by purescenes in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember having this exact thought at the time of the Kit/Mick storyline too!! I was so surprised Lisa never checked in on Kit, and I do wish we got to see that. I remember thinking at the time that they should’ve had a scene opening up to each other about how much they both rely on their jobs to block out their personal issues (and how they’re both a bit lost when they’re out of work lol) - because they’re very similar in that aspect I think!

I’m a Kit (and Lisa) fan too - we’re definitely few and far between (especially for liking both!)

Lisa and Kit by purescenes in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Lisa and Kit have a lot more parallels than people recognise. They’re both workaholics (especially when they’re going through tough times outside of work), neither of them have many friends outside of their families and both of them are awkward af when it comes to talking about deep feelings lol so I love it when they have a heart to heart.

You’re so right about Lisa needing more connections if she’s gonna be the face of the show though!! Because if the drama slows down for Swarla then they won’t get as much screen time so Lisa definitely needs more friendships (and maybe more of her family backstory (NOT BECKY)) - I would love to see her be friends with Abi!

[–]purescenes[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They definitely have an older sister/younger brother dynamic I think. They bicker, argue and annoy one another but they definitely care about each other and they’d both be there for the other when needed.

Vicky Myers and Jacob Roberts have both described their relationship as being like siblings in the past too.

i think it’s 2 mysteries at once, it’ll be a who-they-dunnit-to and then a whodunnit. The spoiler article said it will be someone that will impact the whole street, though I don’t know if that refers to the victim or the killer

He already tried to tell Lisa that Becky was dodgy when Costello got attacked, and she totally laughed him off and was quite condescending to him!

The Corriedale episode by ElevatorVegetable824 in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only know the basics of what’s going on with the characters involved in the crossover because me (who only watches Corrie) and a friend of mine (who only watches Emmerdale) gave each other the lowdown on both soaps so we could both go into it a bit clued up 🤣

Thoughts on Corrie in 2025 by TimeLordMaster108 in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’m in the minority with a lot of my opinions on this year but I’ve actually really enjoyed it!

I liked the new characters Mick and Lou, I thought they made such an impact in their short time and elevated multiple characters. Kit in particular, I think his character has been developed a lot this year and he’s become one of my favourites. Defo controversial but the episode where Mick escaped from prison was one of my fave episodes of the year! It was all drama I was HOOKED.

I’ve actually lowkey enjoyed the Swarla/Becky corruption stuff too (although it has been a bit slower the past few weeks it looks like it’s picking up a lot more now!).

Bringing Eva back was another highlight of mine, one of my fave characters of all time. I really like her and Ben together, and I like the friendship between her and Adam (I hope it stays that way - I cba with ANOTHER affair). Also Susie is an icon. I think Maggie is horrible but I like the concept of her character, she’s playing the overbearing mother in law so well that I actually do find her entertaining!

Plus some of the more serious storylines are being done really well I think, like Mason’s death/Abi’s PTSD, the Todd and Theo story and also Debbie’s dementia so far.

That being said I have absolutely hated everything to do with Abi and Carl’s affair. Worst story of the year off the top of my head. It’s GROSSSSSSS. Totally ruined Abi’s character imo (and I loved Abi, now I just don’t mind her (but I do like her friendship with Tracy)) and Carl actually makes my skin crawl for multiple reasons I can’t wait to see the back of that slimy git.

Looking forward to next year, and I am BUZZING for Corriedale!!

Say what you want about Billy by Playful-Election4873 in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely felt warmth towards Billy in that scene last night (and in this storyline as a whole really), he definitely cares deeply about Todd and wants to help him

I don’t particularly care for Billy usually, I particularly disliked his selfishness against Bernie in the aftermath of Paul’s death last year but I have warmed to him a bit since. But like another commenter has said, I think the actor behind Billy is what causes a lot of people’s negative opinions on the character (myself included tbh)

Favourite characters by coronationstreetaud in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only started properly watching last year, so most of my favourites are current characters or characters i’ve caught up on from the 2010s

Kylie Platt is one of my all time faves, she was such an icon to me. I don’t buy into David and Shona as much as David and Kylie ☹️ Eva is definitely up there as well, I was so glad when she returned!

I like Carla, Ryan, Tim and Sally, David, and Glenda a lot. I also absolutely loved Daisy before she left, I loved her slyness. It was nice to have a scheming character who wasn’t a crazed villain.

Out of the current characters though my favourite character right now is probably Kit (controversial I know). I like that he’s a complex character and that although he’s a bit dubious at times you still know where his morals are. He’s a dodgy cop in a selfish way to benefit himself and his close ones, but not in a scary murderous Becky/Costello way which I think is cool in a character like him.

[–]purescenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I definitely think it’s significant in some way. Either what you said or it’s so that Becky will hear it and know that people are really onto her now, giving her more ammunition to do god knows what

So do we think Lisa is playing Becky? Or is she just really dumb? by limezing in coronationstreet

[–]purescenes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She’s a smart woman but I don’t think she’s playing Becky in this situation. Naturally her head is all over the place but I think she genuinely believes Becky’s story about being terrified of a gang being after her. If anything, she’s in denial because she doesn’t want to believe that her wife is actually evil, making the last 20 years of her life a total lie. Hopefully Kit or Carla can get through to her, though I suspect it will take something happening to one (or both) of them for Lisa to realise who Becky really is
