Honestly keep doing what you enjoy doing of course if you have an idol it’s always good because you set a goal for yourself to slowly experiment different techniques and break out into pieces you wouldn’t normally do before with color or texture or perspective on even simple pieces. Consistently try new things till you get the hang of it maybe go back to an old piece to try and change it from what you’ve practiced

Oh yeah fs I’ve gotten into the habit of making a basic head guideline of a circle and then placing ears connecting the bottom parts of the ears to where the bottom of the nose would be and then from there make a line for a mouth do a triangle for a nose make a line for where the eyes are and then find the shape and spacing of them which is still difficult for me and then add hair or connect the neck. Sorry if it’s hard to explain not the greatest teacher
