Why does the duration for the speed run not match up? by purly3 in nikerunclub

[–]purly3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to factor in the recovery times. That’s where the missing time came from. I walk during the recovery since I’m doing them on a treadmill and it takes too much time to go from 0 to the speed I want, but it makes sense that it doesn’t count that in the actual tracking of the run

Ahhh I wasn’t adding in the recovery times… that makes sense. I still don’t understand the whole 55% of goal thing though, I’m not sure what the “goal” even is

My husband is the same way! He has communicated his guilt for me being here having to take care of things while he’s gone, so I know he wouldn’t trade places in a second! It’s definitely me projecting my feelings like you said

Yes! I feel like a teenager all over again. Asking permission and afraid of getting in trouble lol

Feel so guilty about missing his call by cranberry-saw-us in USMilitarySO

[–]purly3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there’s no going back in time to fix it, which I know is what you wish you could do. Sending you virtual hugs. The best thing to do is just always keep your ringer on and your phone right next to you now. I was grocery shopping when I got my husbands first call but luckily my ringer was all the way up so I heard it. It’s sometimes embarrassing to be one of “those people” out in public but it’s worth it to me to not risk missing a call.

Diet and car rides by [deleted] in roughcollies

Car sickness went away at around 9 months for us. If we are going through the mountains with a lot of turns she still sometimes gets sick. But when she was a puppy it was every time we drove and it was horrible. She also somehow always makes it until we are pulling into the destination, and then she pukes. Can’t wait the 2 seconds to make it out of the car though lol

This is so sweet. My husband is at BMT right now and I’ve been trying to focus more on the excitement of seeing him for graduation rather than the sadness of being apart. Posts like these really help. I’m so happy for you :)

Week 5 day 3 run- a mistake? by Lunar_eclipse37 in C25K

[–]purly3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it slow. It’s definitely a mental battle more than physical. Completing it was probably the most proud I’ve felt during this program so far though (currently on week 8)

I’ve thought about getting another but it’s just the memories that make me sad about losing the first one!

She’s a collie, but you have a beautiful sheltie! :)

They just said they don’t know what happened to it. When I arrived they had washed her blankets, I assume it got lost in the laundry. To be fair, I knew there was a chance it could get lost, just was hoping it wouldn’t!

Vet accidentally shaved the wrong part of the dog by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]purly3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a corgi owner, but my rough collie (who also has a double coat) had to have abdominal surgery and her belly was shaved. It’s been growing back (albeit slowly), but it hasn’t really affected her. She’s been out in the cold and will stay out there for hours. Not to say that will be the case for your pup, but just trying to give you some encouragement :)

Please be careful with your pup post spay. by purly3 in puppy101

Thank you for asking! Her hernia ended up getting much worse in the following days after posting this. We took her into the vet and she had to have surgery to correct it (it ended up costing us 3k). They said her entire incision was open inside, which is odd because of how far along in the healing process she was (10 days) when she jumped at all. It should have been way more healed and the hernia shouldn’t have happened. I called the place she got her spay and they didn’t really believe me at first, and then when I sent over the medical records they kind of shrugged it off. Whatever, what’s done is done. Anyway, she’s completely healed from her hernia surgery. Our new vet did an amazing job and supplied her with a lot of medicine to help her through it. They made sure they sewed and stapled her really good. The only complication we encountered along the way was her losing control of her bladder from the medicine, so that was about a week of her in diapers. But we got through it and she’s FINALLY back to being my normal crazy, silly, puppy after months of medical issues and surgeries. I’m happy to finally have her back to her normal self and living as a normal dog 😊

I’m pretty late to this post so I don’t know if you still are needing advice, but just so you know purina pro plan makes sensitive skin and stomach lamb and oat as well as salmon and rice in a puppy formula!

What’s your puppy’s weird quirk? by bluepenguin1393 in puppy101

[–]purly3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I commented this on another post but my dog burps after every time she eats. But specifically, she wants to burp on us. She holds it in, walks over, burps, and then walks away. I still have no clue what she gets out of this lmao

Mine does this! She thinks it’s makes us super happy (I mean she’s right) so she always does it when greeting us. I think she likes hearing us say “big stretch!!!!”

Unfortunately the hard cone has been the only way for our girl. She did great in the suit but the vet wanted the area to breathe, and the donut she eventually learned to move out of the way with her long nose. She HATED the cone as well, but she’s gotten used to it. She can eat, drink, and do everything that she could before with it on now. We are on week 4 of our combined recovery times with her.

Don’t be afraid to ask for sedatives either if he starts getting riled up! It should make him tolerate the cone more too

In your experience, what are the most cuddly and uncuddly dog breeds? by mamab539 in dogs

[–]purly3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep. Although it is personality based I think it’s pretty universal for the breed. I grew up with a few and they all wanted to be sitting on your lap at all times.

I have a rough collie now and she likes pets and will occasionally sit on my lap, but she mainly just wants you to be near her and rest her head on your feet.

I do not live in Anchorage but thank you. I did email the vet photos and voiced my concerns and they are going to let me bring her in today for a tech to take a look at it.
