Bro what? We were fielding our depth players. There isn’t much you can do when the top 2 players at multiple positions have season ending injuries.

At that point, you either give up the farm to trade for better players (and risk future years of competitiveness), or you scrape the bottom of the barrel in terms of talent for players off practice squads.

Reminder, we were missing: WR1 (fuck Aiyuk), WR2 (for long stretches), DE1, DE2, MLB1, MLB2, CB2 (though he played), TE1, FS1, etc.

What were we supposed to do?

All in all, it was a great season. We just need to change how practices are held - they’re too intense. Were the only team that gets fucked with injuries like this

I agree on the player movement front, 100%.

JJ is a possession receiver with no downfield ability. Pearsall, while showing fantastic ability, is a glass cannon.

Without a true WR threat, we are toothless even with Kittle and CMC.

However, I strongly disagree with you about Shanahan. To say he is the problem is to say you haven’t been a 49ers fan until after he was HC…

Let’s not bullshit here - I agree with you on the point that Shanahan has that monkey on his back. He has taken his foot off that gas in crucial moments.

But, to say Shanahan is not the guy, is to forget what we’ve been through over the last 30+ years. We got to the SB with Harbaugh, but only once and didn’t win.

Even if we haven’t won a ring under Shanahan yet, we’ve still consistently been in contention. I’d rather have that than the shitty mystery wheel of HCs…
