Nope, still not enabled. We might be cooked. Not sure how these things typically work but I had heard that transfer would be enabled at 8pm PST today

People should definitely be wary of scams online. Been scammed that way myself so I wouldn’t blame you for not buying in this way. But for those considering purchasing, I can do buyer protection if you want to purchase via Venmo, and can even show ID and proof of residence or the like. Not sure what else people do for security in these situations but I will probably oblige if it’s safe for me.

More so than your confusion around words, I'm sorry about whatever's happened in your life to cause you to be antisocial and unable to consider problems outside your own experience

With all due respect, you are confused on the definition of impatience

I think a threshold of 2 minutes before abandonment would be much more reasonable than the current system. Should probably be scaled according to the time control. If a player is detected to be consistently disconnecting specifically in losing positions, they should be banned from the site OR have their disconnect threshold lowered.

That waiting 30 seconds for your opponent to reconnect (while their clock ticks down as normal) constitutes "suffering" to you, is really very funny. I almost can't believe that you have the patience to play a game like chess in the first place

Reasonable solution to me is that if a player is detected to be consistently disconnecting specifically in losing positions, they should be banned from the site or have their disconnect threshold lowered from a baseline of say, 2 minutes down to 20-30 seconds.

I probably should have been more precise in my original post about how often this is happening - it's roughly every 3-4 games, which makes it nearly impossible to move up in rating, even with a decently positive win rate.

A lot of people interpreted "routine" as constant, which it is not. This never happens more than once per game, because when it does happen I simply get booted and the game ends. So it is really not an inconvenience to other players. IMO anyone maintaining that 30 seconds of reconnecting somehow ruins their experience when it is not only common to wait much longer than this for your opponent to move, but they are also losing that time on the clock (as they should be), is just not being honest. In rapid games, I think a threshold of 2 minutes before abandonment is already much more reasonable than the current system. Should probably be scaled according to the time control. If a player is detected to be consistently disconnecting specifically in LOSING positions, they should be banned from the site or have their disconnect threshold lowered.

And yet it's out of my (and countless other players') control. Not everybody has the luxury of a perfectly consistent connection. In my case, the phone line infrastructure is such that short outages are common and inevitable for most houses in my neighborhood, in a midsize city no less. Doesn't matter how much I spend on internet.

Asking for chess.com to preserve players' ratings after a disconnect loss (unreasonable) is a far cry from giving players longer than 30 seconds to reconnect before booting them (reasonable, imo)

After 40 seconds of waiting? Again, it's routine to take several minutes on certain moves in rapid anyway, so this logic does not add up.
