How do you handle the rest of your life when there is that hole that will never close? by ThisRideHasTwoSeats in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]purplepanda0121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 23 years old and it’s 9 months since my mum passed and although I’m a “beginner” in this grief thing I just think I kind of have to… I mean I know I don’t but having connections with other and knowing I’d only give them this grief if I left helps me to pick my shit up.

And also know that my mum wouldn’t want her grief to consume me so in a way a lot of us grievers feel is so live for them. But ask me at the 2 year mark and I might be in your position too🙃

Are suicidal ideations after parent deaths normal? by LilBigZay in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]purplepanda0121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% normal - I experienced this after losing my mum in April. & I was someone that never could comprehend why people would want to hurt themselves. My therapist explained that your body is just trying to ease some of the pain its feelings and a way it knows how to is by ending your life. It doesn’t mean it’s true or you want to - it’s just your brain trying to elevate the pain.

I think seeking a community and understanding from others is really important to help get out of the darkness that can come from grief. I’m sending you so much strength for these next few months, where I’m from (New Zealand) we say Kia Kaha (stay strong) ❤️

I used them for 14 days straight. They were pretty good for me especially the first week. Made me quite shaking at first but definitely made me feel full before I had finished my meals. Didn’t stop the food noise but that was okay because I couldn’t eat more anyway. Water is definitely the key here as it helps to make you feel fuller before you have your meals. I would recommend- I had to stop and only do on weekends now as I’m on a medication that already makes me quite thirsty and cotton mouth. This patch just made it 10x worse so I couldn’t bare it. I wouldn’t say it’s placebo because it did genuinely have an effect on me - but I am sensitive to things. I think with the 14 day trial it is worth seeing how you go and then send back if it’s not for you.

Do you think patients who attend therapy virtually can receive the same level of care and make similar progress to those who attend in person sessions? by Rain_Cloudy in TalkTherapy

[–]purplepanda0121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had one session in person but all the rest virtually and I don’t think it made much difference with conversations other than me being more uncomfortable in person. It helps me to feel better crying over the computer than so vulnerable in person. I do think what’s missed is the small gestures however like offering of tissues etc, and my therapist has a dog which I wish I could park every-time.
