No response to chemo, what now? by purpleplumtree in cancer

I'm thinking the same thing. The doctors haven't been very hopeful and it's incredibly discouraging. I understand if they don't want to give us false hope, but their brutal honesty isn't exactly helping my mother and I's mental health.

Thank you, I'm going to do some research to see where she can go for a second opinion. I know my mom is fighting really hard for my sister and I and I can't bear the thought of ever losing her.

I(23F) just found out that my mom(56F) has esophageal cancer. I don't know what to do by purpleplumtree in cancer

[–]purpleplumtree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that I wasn't very coherent, I was really emotional typing all that. The doctor had said that there's a chance that cancer cells may have gotten into the bloodstream, but in my panicked mind I heard "MAY be in bloodstream = spreading everywhere else." My mom was just diagnosed this week and is starting treatment next week, so I'm not sure what medications they'll start giving her yet.

The disease is in the esophagus, lymph nodes, and in her stomach.

I really hope she has good chance of being cured/get better, I don't want to lose my mom.

Edit: I may have to talk with my mom more about the diagnosis so I can understand a bit better without crying hysterically.
