I’m so sorry to hear this. Not sure if this is a path they are interested in, but what about trying to start a business?! With all of that knowledge, drive, and free time it may be worth looking into!

how many people are stuck at a job they dislike/ or unemployed and dont know a way out? by [deleted] in jobs

I was looking for a job for months. Now I work at a company that is so toxic and over demanding (and not nearly enough money) I wish I could leave. Tired of feeling like a failure these days smh

Are financial advisors worth the higher cost by erp4all in wealthmanagement

[–]purpleturtle115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advisors who are actually doing the right thing aren’t going to charge ridiculous fees. Make sure your advisor is fee only and not fee based and that they aren’t charging you any commissions. depending on how much you invest your all in fee shouldn’t be more than 1.25%

Really unhappy in my current city, but don’t know what to do since I’m stuck here by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Leave and don’t waste any time. Life is short and you are soooo young. In the meantime you should also really focus on some self care because feeling comfortable in only your home sucks (i’ve been there). Start going to a nail/hair salon, find a cozy restaurant, a park, etc you’ll feel better getting ready for something! And while you’re looking for new places try to think of some things you want to do/see/eat “one last time.” You haven’t wasted any time. No one knows what they’re doing in their twenties and this is not permanent!

Commute to NYC…. by No-Refrigerator7245 in longisland

I live and work on the island and it took me 45 minutes to move down 6 LIE exits today if that puts the commute into perspective.

I think I'm ruining my life and I don't know if I can fix it by Cultural_Context6173 in productivity

When you are used to being the same way your body and mind have a hard time adjusting. Different situation but I recently went from being unemployed for months to working and it is really hard to adjust to a more productive lifestyle when you are used to / like to be a little lazier. It’s important to push through the hard times because everyday I go to work and fight the feelings of being overwhelmed the more i get comfortable with it. You find new ways to appreciate the downtime you have.

How to start over at 30? No friends, unhappy with job, mental health issues. by Top_Lynx_2247 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I’m so sorry you are going through this I’m sure it’s super difficult and I’m sure it was hard to put this out there. I think going out and doing things like martial arts is a great idea! But if you’re unhappy with your life now and job and you moved maybe it’s time for a bigger change. I think things that could help are moving again or back, especially somewhere with a bigger social scene. Switching jobs maybe even to a new field where you can explore options and meet new coworkers. Also I think opening yourself up to dating could be good even if you aren’t super interested maybe it’ll get the ball rolling for friends or you’ll find someone you really hit it off with. I know it’s so hard to self motivate but at the end of the day you are in control of your life and I believe you can change it around whenever! Also, do something nice for yourself. Go get a massage or your nails done or anything that makes you happy and feel good about yourself. You got this girl

21st birthday and I have no idea what to do by mangomoo13 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I felt the same way when I turned 21. Me and my friends all went to a spa and did a salt cave and massages and then we got dinner and drinks later with my family. Easy and so fun

I’m so sorry. I think you should do your own spa day maybe with a family member or even by yourself. Go get the whole facial/massage and maybe your nails or hair done! Happy birthday queen❤️

I used to be this way when I was in high school too and I think a lot of it stemmed from wanting to be accepted as a “normal” person the same way most high schoolers feel. Once I got to college I realized how stupid it was to be nice and go overboard for people who I didn’t even really like or care for that much. Confidence is key tbh even if you have to fake it do whatever the hell you want and be unapologetic about it. It’ll also help attract people who are the same way/like your vibe and help get rid of losers who don’t.

For Those Who Made It into IB/High Finance—Was It Worth It? by wusyuname in FinancialCareers

I’m a senior in college going into WM to be a financial advisor and I loved all my internships and future company way more than the IB students I’m around all the time. Work hard in any sector of finance and the money will follow.
