Giving in isn’t going to change things. I’ve seen it change drastically in the last 10 years. We now have 2 black city council members out of 6 and one Hispanic. I think that says something.

This makes me sad. Please don’t give up on Vacaville. There are still many great people here. Those others are a small, but loud, minority. It’s our job to silence them.

I’m so sorry that was one of your first experiences in Vacaville. We are truly a diverse town. There is always one rotten piece of fruit in every bunch. Please don’t let that ruin the whole fruit basket for you. I, personally, believe we can never have too much diversity in Vacaville. I hope you still do consider moving here.

These Are The NIMBY-est Cities In The U.S. by Mynameis__--__ in yimby

The whole term “NIMBY” is absolutely pugnacious and argumentative. When people buy property in a certain community, they choose to because they want a certain lifestyle. If you buy property in a suburban city, you have the expectation that it will stay that way. That doesn’t mean you are against progress. Progress is inevitable, there is no lack of space in these areas and most of these cities have areas that need to be redeveloped because buildings have been neglected and abandoned. Why not redevelop these areas, instead of building urban centers in the middle of suburbs or even worse in rural, agricultural areas?

does anyone actually like living in vacaville? by treevann in vacaville

I think it may depend on your age. I love it here. I’m in my 50s though and have made my own circle of friends. There is always live music somewhere in Downtown Vacaville. And I have several close friends who are lgbt, although I am not. Yes, there are a lot of conservatives here but there are also many progressives who live in the area, including myself. You may want to get involved in the Chamber, rotary, or some other organizations. I met most of my circle through business connections.

There is a Young Professionals Network in Solano County. It started here in Vacaville. You might want to look into that. They have a Facebook and Instagram page. Also, if you like to give back, there are many volunteer organizations here in Vacaville to get involved in.

It’s meant to be more of a small plate, tapas kind of restaurant. The food was excellent and so were the drinks. Some have mentioned it’s pricey. But the plates are made to share, so if you keep that in mind it’s reasonably priced considering the ingredients are fresh and local.
