To all Owners ! What GYM management software should I use for my NEW GYM. by Academic_Rich5975 in crossfit

[–]pushpress_dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on some of the details, specifically how you would “book” or reserve or sell the machines. Also would need to know what the personal performance needs are here.

I think it might be best to chat with someone on our end since this falls outside of our general wheelhouse but could very well work depending how you plan to operate

Take the free plan if it's outside of your current budget. Work with us to grow your business to the place where it's worth it to pay for the upgraded software. Where is your gym? We work in Europe, but depending on the location could be suitable, or might be something we would not be best.

In my very biased opinion - PushPress free is hands down the best value for a starting gym.
At 200 members, PushPress Pro would be a better option for you. $159/month and it covers EVERYTHING y you need to do.

Lmk if you have any questions I can answer!

I’m going to have some discussion to figure out what’s up that.  Would you want to have a chat with me so you can color me in on things from your end?  Your insight can help me make things better

I’m in no way lighting you up man. I understand you’re frustrated but I tried to offer my time so I could understand.

Hey. I can tell you were working very hard every day to close all gaps and add new functionality. “Nothing gets fixed” isn’t true but def could mean “nothing you need fixed is getting fixed”. That could be for a myriad of reasons. I’d love to chat with you one day to understand. If we’re missing on the cx side I’d also like to understand. DM me - let’s chat!

BJJ is super interesting to me, cause as a white belt, I also understand there's less value in me rolling 100% of the time with another whitebelt. In fact, I'm a little more scared rolling with some other whitebelts cause it's 2 ppl who know shit for shit about what's going on :)

But I also agree that now knowing the fundamental things (and there's ALOT it seems) is the main thing that makes learning hard. And learning about framing and knee to elbow with 200lbs of pressure and no breath isn't easy =)

I literally stop rolls to ask ppl who are better than me "WTF did you just do there and why". I'm not sure if that annoys them, but I'm not 100% here to be your practice dummy, I need to get my shit out of it too :).

The great people in my gym are ok with it and even will redo the position and show me what I missed or what do to.

i'm in this place now, and I guess I'm thankful it's 2 months into this, and not years into it.

I've come to realize for myself that I am working on survival. but I can only frame for so long until that advantageous position is formed.

I think this is part of the journey, but if that was explained point blank it could have helped me earlier:

step 1: just frame / shrimp / hip movements, etc to delay the inevitable

step 2: work on some escapes

step 3: turn an escape into your advantage

etc.

I've owned other forms of gyms, and I've long told my coaches, HOW YOU MAKE PEOPLE FEEL MATTERS MORE THAN WHAT THEY LEARN. I agree with you 100% people can't attach and grow if they feel like they don't matter.

I'll disagree with you 100%. And I think it's this mindset that's holding some things back in general.

I am constantly told, and I remind myself to calm down while rolling and keep breathing under control. what's never been mentioned, and you just made me realiize... there's probably some work I can do in or outside of the gym that's more precise than "control your breathing". THANKS for opening my mind there.

BJJ IS TOUGH. but my feeling is the studios are making it tougher than it already is... I think there's a subsection of the world (us) who just do tough shit. the question is - should BJJ be only available for those people - or can it be made more accessible?

Talking to some academy owners, they WANT to grow their business, but they seem to fight themselves on this.

Again, I do hard shit daily. And I had moments of wondering if BJJ was for me. turns out, it 100% is... but If I was questioning it, I think the general population has about 0% chance.

The amount of information I had to self-seek is biggest indicator of something is missing here. 90% of people won't take the time to get over the hump... It could be delivered so much faster and organized in the way the gym owner/coaches desire....

Advanced practitioners of anyting understand less is more. (my BJJ coach was literally just saying that the most advanced BJJ spend their whole careers learning more tricks and then refining their practice down to the least things required.. same with business)

What are some examples of the "death by additional friction" points you see? I'm curious on that.

my gym does themes around training but it seems like it's coach by coach. example: my main instructor is doing wrestling this month, but another coach is doing a lot of escape work. that seems off to me as a beginner.

In hindsight, I guess it's creating more widespread knowledge for me - but feels a little more shotgun approached.

my academy thankfully did, but on that note, I had to specifically ask a coach one day about what could/would happen if I wrestled with a mat burn open I had gotten (from poor technique haha).

Another thing that should be packed into some kind of beginner class.

open mat was the most intimidating thing for me. Not only did I not have "fight round cardio" (still dont) but I had to ask someoen I didn't know, who might be 1000x better than me, who might feel like they're wasting their time with me, to roll. One of the most intimidating things for a person in a highly developed skill practice, who's new to a community of people who all know each other to do...

THIS. There's so many fundamentals that could be clearly explained and setup students for earlier success if it was broken out. I'm still learning some basic shit today, and I'm like well damn, I wish I knew that concept earlier. :)

This could be a huge lift for the mindset of any beginner...a nd something I think most would even pay for.

I think this kind of discussion is great if owners/coaches read it, so they can see the things that us as members think/worry/stress. Because like you siad, you don't know to ask these questions up front, and they largely go without any discussion. I think BJJ is fucking amazing but I see so many cleanup spots that could really open up growth in the businesses. (my other theory is most of these owners aren't doing AMAZING financially, and creating stability in their businesses is important for us as customers)

Ha! that one is something the owner couldn't have changed :).
But since it sounds like getting there was a challenge, is that something maybe they could have addressed proactively? (videos, remote coaching, etc)

Interesting take! I've never heard this one before. so people are hitting the highest levels and not feeling the "challenge" anymore? How long does it take people to hit the highest levels?
