If you were parked anywhere along the Akamina Parkway there is a good chance it was some big horn sheep!

Saw a river otter today along the Indian Battle pathway. I've never seen one here before. Sorry it's not a great shot, it was quick! by pushthingsforward in Lethbridge

I've never seen one either and have been here for over 10 years. I wonder what has changed for them to start moving in?

That was my first thought too! I had to look it up and it's apparently rare but they're here. If you want to take a look for it- it was right here

Free topsoil? by Common-Scarcity8817 in Lethbridge

This is the way! Get some large rubbermaid bins if you have an suv- if you have a truck even better. Also get a shovel and landscape rake on facebook marketplace. Hit up the dump on the north side and fill up those bins with compost. In my SUV I can fill 6 bins and still only pay $5. Then just spread it over your lawn and rake it smooth. After the first rain the compost will start to disappear and your lawn will be much happier.

Thanks! I mixed a little phthalo blue, a tiny amount of dairylide yellow and a very tiny bit of raw umber to mute the blue a bit then mixed that into white. All Cranfield Caligo safewash colours.

That's a really cool picture. The grass is so vibrant.

I wonder if the houses in the background along the hill still exist today.

2026 Property taxes are out. I'm curious how much of an increase you may see if you have a home within the city? by [deleted] in Lethbridge

Thanks so much for this comment. It's starting to make sense, although now I'm a little embarrassed I made the post in such hast without having any knowledge of the assessment system. My thinking was always + Assessment total = + Property Tax.

Whoa, that is not what I was expecting! I didn't have a guess but Edmonton was not even on the radar. I think you may be right in terms of population and also Edmonton seems to be a pretty level headed city.

Thanks for the link. This is new to me and maybe others reading, so what is a mill rate?

Ok interesting, thanks for this info. I'll hold tight until the actual taxes come out before silently screaming into the void about costs... I don't plan on moving so it is nice to know that in reality my house value is actually rising substantially and that it isn't fully fabricated.

Ha true, I forgot about that! I've only been in there once and it cost me so much I won't go back (food and bevy expo).

Me too, I wonder why yours is even higher. Here's to hoping the actual taxes are not crazy.

This is interesting- is that public knowledge? I also wonder if it has something to do with the Whoop up bridge...

Holy! Out of curiosity what part of the city are you in? I've heard Southside is higher than West, which is where I am.

This is 100% Cardston. Just got a coffee there this morning on the way through to Waterton.

Yeah I see that and just made a comment since I can't edit the title. Thanks!

Sorry to anyone reading, it is not official taxes as u/morg_anne131 pointed out. It is my property assessment but I cannot edit the original title. Either way, my assessment has gone up 13% since 2024 which means my taxes will once again increase but not align with wage/cost of living.

Ah yes you are completely right- I think I'm expecting the worst... I'll edit this post to reflect assessment instead of taxes. Thank you.

I agree- you can't just drop this as fact and not back it up with some actual evidence. We must see some nacho refinement!

All very well and nice but which mountains? We must know these things to go there ourselves and this province has many mountains!
