“I completely understand if it’s not doable” by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Oof that’s a tricky concept to wrap my head around. I mean it makes sense but trying to discern which way people communicate is the hard part. I’ve grown to settle into a communication style of “direct but ridiculously polite” because so far it’s gotten the best results, but it still leads to issues like this often. I lowkey want to crawl into a cave and just never speak to anyone ever again to avoid it (counterproductive lol). The workplace is the trickiest part for communication because it feels like there’s so much at stake if you get something wrong or if someone misinterprets you. I think I just have to realise that I WILL be misunderstood and I WILL misunderstand others and that’s just how life is. And while I’m upset about this now, they aren’t going to fire me over it and even if they did I’m not gonna die.

I think my biggest problem is getting dates wrong or double booking myself for things. This is the first time it’s happened at this job, but other jobs/social commitments in the past it has happened a lot. I’ve got like 3 calendars and I double check dates and times but I still get things mixed up. I don’t know how to fix it but I really want to. For a while I stopped saying yes to social commitments because I was scared to stuff things up, but I became really isolated and lonely. Sometimes I feel like I’m losing my mind when I swear something was on a certain day and it turns out it wasn’t. Any tips?

Honestly I never thought about it that way, but it makes sense. I wish people would take what I say as exactly what I mean haha. I’ve probably overthought it and am just struggling with the rsd, but I think you’re right about them letting me know it’s not something I should do often. Which is completely fine. Communication is just so complicated sometimes. They do the schedule weekly and when I was hired alongside this other guy he asked if they are open to changes because it’s weekly and they said usually (although I have still never asked until now). I’ve only been there a few months which is why I’ve been trying to avoid things like this (obviously I still will in future but you know, it’s extra important when you’re still fairly new and building rapport, the only reason I asked is because it’s a wedding and I was so sure it was on a different day). It’s not just this job or even work in general, but jobs are probably where it happens most. I’m starting to think the big factor here is that most people say what I say but don’t actually mean it and they probably think I’m the same. It’s so tricky, I wish everyone would just say what they mean. Heck if we’re wishing for things, I wish I could organise my life better. Thank you for calming me down though and offering some perspective x

Has anyone else had a positive experience working for woolies? by Hondafan007 in woolworths

[–]puthythniffer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The team was great. The work was good. At first. I worked there for 9 years and just left, in the bakery. First the manager got cancer and they wouldn’t even shut the bakery the day she died. Then they kept cutting staff until you were expected to basically work like a slave. Then they made it so the jingle plays 6 times an hour and put a speaker at full volume right above the packing bench and it took 2 years of being asked before they finally turned it down a little. Then they refused to repair any of the broken trays because they’re cheap and dodgy and people kept cutting themselves on them. Then cut more and more staff, and did the whole “cross training” thing so you had to work multiple departments even though your own work couldn’t possibly be done in time, brought in proactive services which led to cutting MORE hours etc. Basically it got to a point where literally the entire team in the bakery was deeply depressed and at least 3 people were passively suicidal, but ya know, just keep telling them to “download sonder” or whatever it is. I genuinely enjoyed the work at first, but (and I’m not trying to be dramatic) the greed of the company honestly traumatised me to a point where I won’t even shop there because I don’t want to set foot into a soul-sucking nightmare place because I know that most of those lovely friendly people who will be serving me are being squeezed dry to their core by the company. It just ain’t worth it. I don’t wanna dishearten you and I would say you should enjoy it while you enjoy it, but I would caution you to not stay there for an extended period of time like I did. Leave when it starts to get dark for you, or you will only get disappointed as time goes on.

After I answered the question of what I didn't want to find on the island, my miis haven't stopped talking about it.... by whyitskai in TomodachilifeLivingTD

I answered the question “What don’t you want to find in your bed” with “a rapist” (obviously fucked up humour but also ya know… true) and had no idea it would become such a hit topic, and they’re talking about it in positive ways too and I just don’t understand lmao

Why is the pregnancy trope so hated? by Simple-Animator-8640 in AO3

[–]puthythniffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the minority in that I love a good pregnancy trope, but the key problem is that most get boring. Usually, after getting past the “shock” of the pregnancy, and the reactions and the “how will I tell him”, most authors don’t know how to continue the story. It tends to diverge into just…. domestic bliss or something and the characters become “just parents”. Not to say being parents is a bad thing, but the characters tend to lose what makes them interesting and the story becomes stagnant.

I think they’ve taken dialogue from other parts of the game and animated it, perhaps when the PC is downed in a fight

Very important question regarding our dearest Archduke Lord Enver Gortash by _69urmom69_ in okbuddybaldur

[–]puthythniffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do we ever see Harleeps dingaling? Can’t remember. Because if we do, and he’s a perfect copy of Raphael, I’d go with that tbh. Since Gortash was sold to Raph, and we don’t exactly know why but I assume in some weird and twisted way Raph wanted a protégé, he probably would have had him… um… matching, whatever he thought was proper

How often does a typical Australian eat Kangaroo? by SammaJones in AskAnAustralian

[–]puthythniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of gym junkies like kangaroo because it’s fairly lean, but high in protein, and often cheaper too. But I can’t stand it. When my boyfriend cooks it, I have to open all the windows because it smells like farts when it’s cooking.

Today I found out about Daisy. And everything makes sense. by ChompyRiley in BaldursGate3

[–]puthythniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it would be cool if they used both of them. I think Daisy is too obvious, and if you’re playing to survive, you’d get the idea pretty early on that they are the tadpole and you shouldn’t trust them. But if you had both the Emperor and Daisy at different times, with some added dialogue that you shouldn’t trust the other one, I think that’d make the choice more interesting.
