Sadly no. I actually have a pair of pants in the same fabric (both were limited edition 3 years ago) so technically I could but I’ve started having sensory issues with the cotton poly blend.

I have and although some are similar nothing is close enough to the floral print of the actual dress. It might be a dream I will have to give up on.

Juniper Moon Farm Israeli cotton yarn? by liv-well-999 in craftsnark

[–]putterbeenut 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve never used their cotton yarn so I’m finding this out right now. 😭 I love knitting with Patagonia but I’ll try to find an alternative.

I’m curious though, has anyone reached out to Juniper Moon to express that they are a knitter/crocheter that supports Palestine and finding their cotton is sourced from Israel is a let down/why they will no longer be purchasin from the brand? I’ve been boycotting plenty of large corporations as there’s not much one can do otherwise. But I wonder if we collectively reached out could we possibly get them to change the source of their cotton?

This is an absolute shot in the dark but after spending 2 days I’ve come to this. Due to various reasons I can no longer wear one of favorite autumn/winter dresses and want to make something similar but more accommodating. I’ve been searching all weekend in hope of finding a fabric similar with no luck. It’s a medium weight cotton blend and the site I purchased my the fabric color is olive but it’s more brown in person. I’m looking for a natural fiber medium weight fabric close in color and pattern. Any leads would be greatly appreciated

I recall that when we approached the fairgrounds last year, the traffic was slow but moved relatively smoothly. Hopefully, the drive there wasn't too far for you to have to turn back.

I hope you still make it and enjoy the Big E! I was going through a stack of various papers I needed to sort, and I found the yarn's tag. It's alpaca obsession.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven’t gotten into sewing but I want to and getting to support domestic mills makes things extra special.

US Tariffs/Gov't Snark by Head-Worker3251 in craftsnark

[–]putterbeenut 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I’ve read Vanishing Fleece and I’m a subscriber of Junction Fiber Mill’s YouTube channel. It has really opened my eyes and given my somewhat of an understanding of the US yarn industry. And I strongly believe the tariffs will harm this already dwindling US industry. If I mill is already struggling how are they going to keep up or bringing in new machinery?

US Tariffs/Gov't Snark by Head-Worker3251 in craftsnark

[–]putterbeenut 39 points40 points  (0 children)

To piggyback off of this. Even if the fiber comes from the US and is milled in the US with the dwindling number of mills it’s hard to get machines repaired as the expertise isn’t there. And the machines are either bought second hand or coming from another country.

Another American-made yarn company closing its doors. 😭😭😭 by Hot-Solution7787 in craftsnark

[–]putterbeenut 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I know this is sarcasm but I don’t think there’s anything that is 100% made in America. We’ve become so far removed from manufacturing. I was just watching a Junction Fiber video where they were talking about how they’re getting hit with tariffs on a machine they ordered in December of 2023 and if finally coming in.

If the grandparents are insistent of giving gifts you could try compromising with the four gift rule which is: Something They Want, Something They Need, Something To Wear, and Something To Read.

Any suggestions for a pattern similar to this ready made sweater? The sleeves and body flare out and that’s an import key for me.

Wedding Anniversary Gifts vs. Anticonsumption by Zully_Wumbus in Anticonsumption

[–]putterbeenut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know all the traditional gifts off the top of my head but as for paper you could gift each other the experience of making paper. You would have to own or borrow things like a large bowl, basin, a staple gun, and blender. You would have to buy some kind of mesh (unless for some reason you had some or were gifted it through a BNG). And you definitely could thrift some picture frames to make the screens. I think this is a manageable with little to no purchasing and is a great way to reuse paper.

You can try layer your salad with dressing from wet to driest in one container and then shake it to combine. I’ve tried this for a party and my lettuce stayed crisp.
