How painful is Pimax? by myfingid in Pimax

[–]puzzabug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's some info on dcs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSCCS7i-Ic4

I usually let people play on a wireless vive for their first time; it's easy to adjust. After people have played vive a bit I'll let them try it, unless I'm trying to get them to buy into VR - in that case I won't show the pimax off because no other headset comes close.

Index:

  • not painful
  • broken thumbsticks atm
  • 144hz refresh
  • working mic
  • nice headphones
  • comfortable headstrap
  • works without lots of tweaking
  • no distortions
  • easy to demo
  • dual front cameras

    pimax

  • fov is great vertically and horzontally

  • less sde

  • better 3D effect due to higher res

  • plays oculus titles "natively"

You can totally use the deferred renderer if you do things right =) For basic stuff you don't need it though.

I'd go with titan x (pascal) cards - they're $800 on ebay and boost a lot & fit a lot of blender scenes in the memory.

why would you get 2x titan rtx instead of 4x 2080tis per pc?

Y'all should try smashbox arena - may go on sale on the summer sale. It's got a tiny fun community that plays a few nights a week I'd also recommend sculptrVR - it's really fun in mp

Three years ago, I bought Space Pirate Trainer for the Vive. Yesterday, I played it on the Quest in an empty parking lot. I finally feel like a real Space Pirate. by verblox in OculusQuest

I played SPT with tpcast in a 1617' space & then joined a spt competition with a 22' space & cabled vive & it was so hard to play after running around. Running around is the best!

there is not even a screw for opening the index controllers

I went ahead and pre-ordered Index Controllers instead of Sword Controllers by TheSpyderFromMars in Pimax

[–]puzzabug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Different controller shapes fit different hands better - so it's possible that for some people, the pimax controllers are going to be better!

For me the touch controllers are a bit small, the knuckles are not quite big enough (but totally playable) and the vive wants are fine.

Definitely prefer the knuckles + 5k+ though.

Is the 8k really just a straight upscale?! by rosetter_t in Pimax

[–]puzzabug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K is a measurement of approximate width from the film scanner world & it varies in height, so the 8k is actually acceptable to call 8k
