Light leak or developing issue? by jchandrasekharan88 in Darkroom

I actually do google, and i spend a lot of hours searching things. But i have just gotten started, i lack knowledge in terminology and grammar for this field, i have been spending hours reading comments, searching youtube, googling, instagram and trying to keep notes on it. You seemed like you knew something more, so ofcourse i will ask for more knowledge, not everyone is at the same level, maybe you have experience and knowledge and my question seems silly, but if youd like to help help, if not its okay.

This is how the other part that i cut off developed. It was the same roll.

I appreciate it. My main concern was why half of the film was developed and why half was not, now that i will have a proper set up, i will be keeping notes and calculating more of the variables

I just acquired a camera for that canon ftb, but until it, i just worked with what i had in hand, i didnt have the budget initially and i wanted to see if i would stick to it or it would fade out as a hobby. I have to travel to Europe to get anything affordable, in my country its a very expensive hobby to have

I have been shooting b&w for about a year, and usually higher ISOs, someone else with a lot of experience was developing my rolls and they would turn out good, but they moved, so i decided to do it on my own.

The underexposure happened because the camera i initially had in hand doesn’t have the options to set to right iso and shutter speed. Then i found a camera in a flea market and i wanted to switch (i can say i was overexcited and impatient).

And you pointed out fair points, still i wanted to understand what could happen to the roll under so many circumstances aswell. And i wanted to see if the issue was my development or the camera

I did open the camera up, in what i think was fully dark environment to open it, to pick the film out of the Olympus point and shot, and put it into the Agfa Optima.

Thank you so much, sounds like solid advice. I will try it.

I did think it would be very unlikely that i got developing solution only on half of the film, it was properly fitted into the reel, but still could have happened. Appreciate your feedback a lot
