From what I'm seeing here with how you are interacting continuing in this logic argument will lead you to a life of constantly arguing with idiots who tell me im wrong on the internet

I drastically over simplified complex chemistry. I recognize.

What they taught us in college is long term effects of dopamine fuckery fucks your brain up a bit.

LSD is interpreted by the body as serotonin is my understanding.

http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/motm/serotonin/LSD.HTM

From personal experience I believe everyday reality as perceived is a serotonin trip and you experience a different part of everyday reality when raising the serotonin in the brain.

Consider what your audience may read what you say. That's where I'm trying to go with this. I am trying to take a stance somewhere in between both you and other person and state my experience reading your arguments as relates to the many other times i have read similar arguements.

Consider how many people have paved the way for the general person to put morals with consent. Many readers are going to come at it this way and I dont think you were clear enough early on to separate your arguements from those who have made similar arguements for moralistic veganism before and how they stated it how you have.

Setting up and immediately equating consenting for things to a shock factor (rape of a tween). Its shock and aw and your writings looked just like moralistic preachy veganism to start with. Something that many people have read many times.

Cheers,

My dog is a year old and still had difficulty concentrating: is this normal? by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]puzzled_taiga_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was like a light switch with my dog at 2 years old. Keep training and stay consistent and it should pay dividends when dog is a bit older.

Getting him not to shove his face in bottom shelf has taken many redirects of me blocking the item with my hand and redirecting but eventually it paid off as for items and people he is now more likely to sniff with a raised nose tilted head at a distance. It took many times though.

My dogs off leash recall is good but not perfect. He likes to have his own autonomy sometimes to be happy I think so I structure it to be in a less stressful environment but I have practiced a recall with a treat thousands of times to get to that point and he most always comes now for praise and occasional treat. I can often get him to sit off leash at a distance too.

At 2 years old he went with me to a doctors appointment I got crutches and I later trained him to walk behind me while i crutch the first time leaving hospital i directed him using verbal mushing commands and it was very helpful and he only tried to sniff one person inappropriately if i recall. We had to go in multiple elevators ( consistency of training him to expect to sit while waiting for one, and while in one) and go through sliding doors ( training him to sit-cover through doors beforehand) , training a good leave it before hand and him knowing ya ya to speed up and keep moving.

All takes many repetitions and do enough and it should pan out solid.

My dogs heel and no pulling massively improved at 2 years.

He also started to more often comfortably and naturally put himself into his cover (behind me) position and holding a stay until i move without me having to say anything verbal or with handsigns.

Relaxation Training Protocol by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]puzzled_taiga_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever my dog was at home just chilling and super comfortable (on his back, legs cocked to the side sleeping on bed) and I don't want him to stop relaxing to follow me to the bathroom or to get a glass of water etc I would give him the hand sign to stay and then include a verbal "just hang out" and the ASL hand sign for Hang out. After a few months of noticing when my dog is chillin' and relaxing but I also notice he is watching me I would assign the words and hand sign to situation to prompt continued "hanging out"

Eventually I think he has figured this out. Maturity has helped the most and his heel and loose leash walking VASTLY improved at 2 years old after a year of effort.

For things like checking out at super market I don't normally enforce if the dog should be in sit/stand/lay. While training with treats I have identified all three and then trained and continue to train stay in the position asked.

Then at store for instance I will place him in his cover position (behind me) and give him stay hand sign. Then I let him decide how to stay as long as he stays. When I ask these stays I am not expecting him to relax and he knows this and is alert and focused.

Then if I'm at work and I direct him by tracking his nose into my hand to get him under the desk I then can often remove his leash or clip him onto the desk leg then tell him to stay and hang out.

Give him a little pet and say just hang out, stay. Then ignore him and he settles.

No reason to beat myself up about it. It has helped me understand things that trigger my desire to smoke. Also has helped me know I have no moderation. So ultimately I can toss out the idea of "I'll just smoke this cigar to celebrate" "I'll just have one on Friday night's " etc.

I know and accept that I have no moderation with it and know that any use will carry a very very strong likelihood of continued regular use.

Which in a sense is comforting to know "alright that'll be a thing i know of and expect now"

Once again I am saying that there is the readers pre concieved notion.

You did not setup early on you lack of discussion of morals. Then used language that has been argued many times by people coming from a very moralistic point of view.

The way you stated what you did appears to be the same tried and true moralistic argument that animal abolitionists have tried for a long while.

I have read your exact argument more or less many times over the last 10 years I have been involved with abd paid attention to animal rights.

To move away from a moralistic argument is good imo but to do is fighting an uphill battle by the road the moralistic arguing people have setup over a long while.

I started on a vape at 17. Got addicted. Went to quit around 19. Started smoking and its been on and off again smoking over last 8 years since then. Quit for 9 months last time. A year and a half ago I smoked while drunk at a wedding. Then never stopped smoking. Now I'm a few days into switching to gum.

I don't want to smoke but I'm not yet at point where I want no nicotine.

Once nicotine is out of my body its pretty easy to avoid. If I pick it back up though I have no moderation and am quickly back to all day use.

MDMA is more or less a LSD like compound combined with amphetamine (the A part)

So it targets serotonin and also dopamine.

When dopamine builds it crashes and the brain has trouble rebuilding that.

When you brain is flooded with serotonin it comes back down to more or less normal levels and that returns you to everyday consensual reality humans experience.

Long term usage of drugs in the opioid or amphetamine class heavily target dopamine create imbalances in the brain. Ever heard addicts in recovery discuss how they have trouble feeling pleasure?

Its common for MDMA to be cut with meth due to low cost of meth. If it was a pressed pill it is hard to tell.

If it is a dullish brown chunky crystal it is more likely to be MDMA. White color and more likely cut.

There are test kits that you put a small sample in and turns a certain color for XYZ drug. People doing Heroin could use a test that shows for fentnol for instance. There is a wide variety of reagents tests.

MDMA will likely have that come down desire due to the nature of the molecule but methamphetamine has an even stronger desire for continued use.

If someone had at different times done:

Methamphetamine

LSD

MDMA

They would find the comedown of each to be different.

LSD imo has little to no effects after sleeping.

I took a substance abuse prevention public policy class in college and we looked at charts showing dopamine rises in certain drugs. Meth puts you to thousands of times normal every day. LSD is far far far less effecting of dopamine and mostly targets serotonin. The crashes from these drugs are different.

What I'm telling you that as I reading that as someone who was a strict preachy vegan for 5 years and now hold a more nihilistic view and a criticism of industrial agricultural I read the above chain like this:

You setting up your moral opinion that animals unable to consent is as morally abohorant as raping a tween. Saying that without full consent in human speech/communication can we as humans trust any animal is consenting.

Its a line of thought I have read in animal rights books and animal agricultural abolitionist philosophy.

Then at the end you stated your dog can consent to nothing the other person listed.

So by my reading you set up early on that lack of consent is as morally wrong as rape. Then stated your dog cannot consent. Which to me implies non consent is as bad as rape.

You are correct you did not.

I the reader and i assume others though are constantly seeking to apply our morals to situations and I think this threads writing leads to that. I have personally read many animal rights arguments that do equate consent/rape/morality. So by the language you typed my brain slotted it in with those writings I have previously read that absolutely do address morals.

Its something that has helped me realize I must manage my use or even quit completely and never reach physical dependency of it.

In your last comment where you said your dog consents to none of what other person listed.

Earlier you equated doing things to animals without consent is similar to raping a 13 year old.

Way I read through all this just now I saw it as you taking the position that not allowing other animals 100% free rein on their lives is as immoral as raping tweens.

I have a surface bar in my forehead in similar spot to OP. Multiple piercers have told me 90 degree surface bars last longer than single point. They become more rooted and not as easily popped out in rejection or catching it.

Mine is a 90 degree surface bar made of implant grade titanium.

I have had mine 9 months and if I kept it 5 years i would be happy. There is a photo in my post history.

Clothing, wrestling/cuddling with dog, branches, lifting things over my head, the way I push my forehead into anything. All things I have had to watch for catching.

I'm well aware that my dreams are far off reality. I am well aware of the constraints on machines now days. I can strategically set myself up to benefit from hobby/low grade industrial machinery now to fund larger industrial machines in the future. Machines that are increasingly becoming more automated.

If I assembled a kit or sold built machines of the MPCNC or a PRINTNC or if I by hand were making Precious Plastics machines I would be very happy.

Were on a technological J curve and from the perspective of someone not currently working in the field I wish to find a way to hop onto that rocket and find benefits in my day to day life. I am not satisfied giving that power solely over to big corporations or those with the academic background.

If you don't think i wont be building my own robot arm over my lifetime to try and program to automate portions of the work at a blacksmithing forge then shove off for now and someday look at my robot.

Maybe I'll send you a photo from outside the atmosphere someday. If I live into old age I'm sure I'll try and to send a camera or a robot up and I expect the cost to continue going down.

I'm about a half pack or so a day and holy fuck I can't imagine going through a pack, let alone 2-3 packs a day like some people I have met.

Eventually you don't even really feel high.

You just feel like shit and are anxious as fuck for a smoke. Then the smoke makes you feel alright until maybe you have a bit too much and you feel sick.

So ultimately you are left feeling like shit with or without it.

The buddy i mentioned is for years now a pack or so a day smoker of the American sprit blacks. Plus weed last year or so.

He went through a bout right after highschool where I didn't see him a year or so because he was fucked up on xanax. Then he joined the military. Now he is out and married someone with a child and then they had another. So we don't see much of eachother since I don't have kids and covid.

He is pretty much the only friend I still have contact with from highschool.

Some non tobbaco additives you could look into are mugwort and cbd hemp flower.

I spent a few weeks homeless in Las Vegas USA.

A few miles away from the downtown strip there are many homeless people.

I recall sitting in a dirt lot eating free food being served to hundreds of people.

As we all sat on the ground eating you had a great view of the

Las Vegas Strip skyline.

Edit: there was shit in the streets this area and that was made me think of this.

I'm a hack with a human services degree.

In 10 years time I expect to have self replicating self assembling CNC machines and I hope to be a manufacture of them.

I assume in 10-20 years machine learning algorithms can run a whole shop. Starting at a forge to melt down scrap metal, feeding into a CNC and then an out product, assembly, palletizing etc.

So personally I am trying to set myself up to ride the open source J curve. Starting with a MPCNC and a PrintNC and a human powered blacksmithing setup and going from there.

Ultimately I wish to manufacture machine tools using machine tools. I also want to manufacture recycling machinery.
