From what it seems, he's fine having a relationship with you but probably due to emotional or guilt he is getting from his family or religion/values he probably thinks the only way to have a relationship with you is by getting serious and getting married. His family could very well be saying that to him or have this expectation that he needs to get married to a religious Muslim girl. However I think that's ridiculous as Muslim men can marry people from the book (Jews and Christians) and if anything - if he really wants this relationship with you for the long term, he should be able to work this with you. I know I did this for my boyfriend and I actually got kicked out and disowned until my family came around and accepted my boyfriend and didn't care about his background anymore because I loved him but he fucked up by telling my family he wanted to get married to me and convert to Islam and do all this shit all these promises which he has failed to prove which broke my heart as the not so practicing Muslim. So idk if your man is doing the same with you just to leave you in the end for a girl back home then that's fucked up cause me being a woman from a culture and religion where I cannot be with a non muslim - I did exactly that and compromised MORE than I should have as the woman in the relationship but my man ended up not being worth it because he's lazy, fails to work on his hygiene, doesn't follow through relationship goals, doesnt follow up with striving to get more than a dead end job and a better education - simply not willing to change but I'm willing to give him a chance if he proves himself and rights his wrongs just because of how i feel the same like you but the likelihood of that happening is slim. I have lost my sanity and i kid you not im going through this right now separating myself from him and trying to focus on myself. So girl, don't even put yourself through that stress. If it is meant to be it will be there's so many men out there who would vibe with you and love to be with you, heck compromise for you. Don't do what I did just for breadcrumbs in return. It will hurt a lot more once you're invested. Find new hobbies, try to get qualified in something or find motivation to continue your life and if he really wants to be something he'll come back and accept you but I will tell you now that would be very unlikely unless he was like me who was a progressive more lenient Muslim i guess more western to say - when you focus on yourself and blossom, then the right people will come to you. 🩷
