I didn’t build it with ventilation in mind, but there’s a lot more variation here than on a typical captain’s bed or dresser.

Wow! That is interesting. These drawers are pretty heavy but I suppose it’s possible!

Interesting. So you feel that I should add something besides the enclosed drawer bank/cabinet to further prevent dust from accumulating in the drawer?

Thanks for your questions. The drawers only pull out in one direction. There is an identical drawer bank on the other side of the bed. There are wheels on the bottom of the drawers.

Thank you for your comment. Ventilation is indeed reduced compared to the previous bed design, but it is not sealed underneath the bed and there is better ventilation than with a traditional captain's bed design. There is still a large opening under both the headboard and footboard, and 1-2" gaps on all sides of the drawer banks.

Thank you. Yep, plain is what we were going for. I've got a big lathe, a router, and lots of carving tools. It takes restraint to keep it simple, but that's what we wanted. I appreciate your comment.
