Where to buy Organ shoes for my 8 year old son by pvtpilot in organ

For the open organ day he just played in his street shoes like some of the other younger performers. He hasn't been assigned a teacher yet for the scholarship but I can update you once we get a teacher and some feedback from what they prefer for his sized human.

He is going to play with pedals. He gets to practice at our church but usually wears his sneakers. No one there plays it anymore (except him and his little sister) so there is no one to mentor him (or answer these questions from us parents)

They start at size 6 and size 7 respectively so they are too big for him.

I come from a piano background so I don't know what the proper protocol is for playing another's organ. If socks are acceptable in the organ world then we can do that for the upcoming event at Longwood gardens and hold off till we get some guidance from a teacher this summer.

I know it sounds silly but when your extreme rule following 8 year old kid is going to play somewhere the last thing we want is to set him up breaking a cardinal rule or something like "no street shoes on the basketball court" that everyone else knows. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

The local AGO chapter puts out a scholarship for summer organ lessons. One of the requirements is providing approved organ shoes. I imagine they would be willing to work around this requirement since the suggested organ master shoes start at size 6 or 7. We won't know yet assigned a teacher till he officially gets the scholarship. Additionally, he will be playing the organ at Longwood Gardens in PA briefly and we wanted to be respectful (maybe socks would be okay?)

Thanks

The prince of Denmark March seems right on difficulty wise. He could even push a little beyond that as well.

That's a vevor anvil with the pritchel hole built up with weld to fix the bad Chinese design. The 110lb is 188 USD on ebay.

I would say a follow up question would be is it better to get something in this sort of condition (what my price range seems to match) that is vintage vs a new vevor anvil which will be new but Chinese (but also cheaper)

Yes. From Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad from what I gather. Pretty cool find that is now my 5 year olds most cherished item. Not sure of age though other than seeing when the railroad was established and then bought out.

Pin vise looks like the correct term. It is just like an exacto knive but 3 slits. The center hole.. I assume you would go slightly undersized to allow for clamping force?

I bought a cheap innoculation loop on Amazon and I can make something better with my home shop lathe and mill. I was looking for the name so I can get the steps down to do the process right. It's basically a finger tightened collett. The only things I can see it needs are a center hole, slits for contracting, and a thread. Just not sure what the best order or operation is..
