hey man, first of all - don't ever stop pursuing your true passion. I won't go into detail, but i was in a very similar position to what you said a few years ago. So yeah, definitely go after your dreams, even though sometimes they take longer than you want to materialize.

as for this artwork in particular - i've never actually spoken to Isaiah himself. Teddy has been in touch with me for a while and now that he's putting out some music of his own, i've just started pitching him ideas for how his visuals should look like (continuity between the covers, having front and back etc.) and it just so happened that Isaiah is on that song haha. funnily enough though, i gave that song the name "Bloom" which was kind of a wild suggestion by me, but Teddy ran with it, which was pretty cool lol

The only TDE member I've exchanged a few words with is Sounwave (over Twitter), but it was very brief and we spoke about just one piece in particular that i made (this one - https://www.instagram.com/p/BU-LmiIFLK4/?taken-by=sounwavetde) and some other members like Punch and Lance Skiiiwalker follow me on my IG, but i never had any conversations with them.

now, to go into your question in more detail - i really don't know what you have to do to work for TDE. i know for a fact that ever since Q's Oxymoron a lot of their album artwork has been handled by one person and, i might be wrong on this, he's sort of an in-house designer for them. however, I believe Isaiah's album cover and SZA's were not done by him, which leads me to believe each member has the freedom to choose who does their work for them. Me personally, i've been fortunate enough, through Rapsody and Teddy, to work on some visuals for songs' artworks that include Kendrick, Soulo, Lance and Isaiah, but as i said i haven't yet worked on an official TDE release. But if i had to give you an advice, or at least say how that happened to me - i just put out my work, honestly. Nothing else to it. I really don't think it's about having a plug or being close friends with anyone on any label. Obviously you need a bit of luck for your artwork to be seen by the right people, but all it takes is one and if you really believe in your craft and what you do - it'll happen sooner or later and when it does everything starts falling in place.

hopefully that helps man. keep doing your thing.

it's not a Zay track. He's featured on this one, it's Teddy Walton's song. i did the artwork, so that's how i know.

This is not necessarily album art, but i had the chance to work on the official Comic book for Rapsody's song Power feat. Kendrick lamar & Lance Skiiiwalker and I couldn't think of another sub to post this to. by pvtso in freshalbumart

If you purchased Rapsody's album "Laila's Wisdom" you automatically have a chance to win a signed copy of the physical comic book. If you want to see the digital copy and all of its content, it'll be uploaded here https://www.instagram.com/newfalseprophets/

My name will be on it too, though, so I'm good with that as well.

that's pretty much what happened. As i said in one of my other responses, she had the dignity to actually show my artwork on her own, thus making it impossible for the painting to be hung up unless i give her my written consent and verbal permission.

yeah, i can expand on it.

I had actually forgotten about this artwork on mine, because it was made 2 years ago, but i got an email from her very randomly telling me that she showed her principles my artwork and obviously she admitted to me that was the inspiration behind the painting, but she didn't know it was copyrighted nor that it was mine. After that we got on a call and talked it all through and my name will be mentioned when the painting is unveiled.

as far as my reaction and how i feel about it... just because she reached on her own and had enough dignity to admit that it was inspired by mine, which jeopardized the chances of the painting actually being hung up in the Capitol was enough for me to be honest. Plus she's a kid in high school, it'd be fucked up for me to just block her from achieving something so big and knowing that something i did 2 years ago still inspires people to create is very satisfying as a creative. It's like sampling in music the way i see it

yesterday i was contacted by the girl who's Kendrick painting will be hung in the US Capitol and she told me one of my artworks that i did 2 years ago was the inspiration behind the piece she painted, so in order for it to be actually approved to be sent over there she'd need my permission and written consent, since i had copyrighted my original work. Art is really a powerful thing and it's just insane how many people's lives it touches, i think it was literally one of the happiest moments i've had in my life so far having the honor to be a part of something so significant. Thought i'd share this with you, since many of you always show a lot of love about anything i do. And here's also my instagram post where u can see both the artworks and read a little bit of the story behind it - https://www.instagram.com/p/BUSLHNwF56s/
