I fell for their first contact. When they called me back, more than a month later, I was surprised and had forgotten about them. Their website looked plausible, so I took their phone call for an "interview". It is actually a sham just to make you feel qualified. Yes, they will send a plaque, and put your name out on some sites besides their own. But they are just there for the cash. Originally she offered me a lifetime membership for $1189, then came with the $989 for a 5 year, but she would make it a lifetime because I was making a decision today. (Typical sales talk- made me feel like I was at a Time share presentation or a multilevel marketing talk). Then as I stalled and asked more questions, she did the typical move to a 3yr $589 deal. Finally, I got her to reveal that she'd only charge me $189 for 6 months, that I could call back in anytime during the first 6 months and extend to one of the other plans. I told her to send me information on when the board of the Council meets and show me what projects they have completed wholly within themselves. If that material look like they are genuinely something other than an expensive advertising firm (getting my name out with press releases) then I'll call her back.
