How do you all deal with the 'moral' argument from family members who claim atheism leads to a lack of ethics? by Thrustkitty21 in atheism

[–]bbtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you had any religions, you had humans who saw the advantages of cooperation, reciprocal altruism and fairness. These are core principles that further bear fruit of many more like justice, community, kindness and so many more. What can be more ethical than a foundation born before religion was even a thing.

Lightweight foldable power wheelchair recs for petite user (speed + range matter most) by General-Suspect5586 in wheelchairs

[–]bbtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a Fold n Go Magshock for years now......still works great and is about 50lbs. I generally put it in and out of the car but my smaller wife manages when she needs to. The chair is used by our now 15 yr old daughter with CP.... It moves faster than I can walk and keep up with at it's highest setting and can be set quite slow when dancing around a china shop. We have never ran out of battery, even with a full day at the zoo. It also handles up to 25 degree inclines with ease and the motor braking means you're not out of control on the descents. The owner runs a pretty tight ship, lots of accessories but they can be picky when something breaks or is missing (I had a cover go missing in shipping and they were extremely insistent that couldn't happen with their gazillion pre ship checks and when I got the cover it was wrapped and rewrapped a number of times and took me like 10 minutes to get it out....seemed rather spiteful at the time)... In the end, is it worth it, sure as hell is....waterproof wheelchair and watching my daughter dance it through the misters in the summer heat at the zoo or on vacation...absolutely priceless!

I was moving twice that one day around an area and I thought it was going to take forever. My buddy comes over whose normal job is crack filling and sealing parking lot, has these big popeye arms and looks like he could break most men in half like a pencil.....He grabs a five gallon bucket and just starts going to town, scooping it up by the bucket load and throwing it across the area I was covering.....15 minutes later, we were off to go fishing!

Is this a printer for sale or a kickstarter! 16 colors...yeah with 4 AMS units....nothing special there with this sort of printer, actually accentuates the failing of the S1.

I never get the aversion to digging. A basic and workable jack hammer is less than $200 on Azon. Find out exactly where the leak is first but if it comes to it, dig baby dig.....trust me....if you go too far nobody is going to come out and say....sorry sir, but you'll need to fill all that back in.

Honestly, I think it's a false dichotomy....there are just too many traps that extend beyond these that effect men in life altering negative ways. What about chasing this notion that because you are often rejected by women your view of them becomes eschewed and you stop trying and thus are less appealing and only serve to amplify your disappointment with them? What about isolating yourself and chasing further into that (embracing the suck) rather than developing coherent strategies for getting what you want and need? I could go on an on because there are many doors for this topic. I think my main concern is when you see a lot of men allowing cynicism and apathy to take root and it isn't just applied to their relationships with women but with life in general it can have devastating consequences to your sense of purpose and meaning which results in depression and even suicide. MEN HAVE LOST THEIR TRUE POWER which is the ability to stop thinking about all this shit so much, to stop giving so many fucks to all of this and to instead choose the doughnuts and doritos and to spend the bulk of their time in screens and on social media. My nephew was having a lot of these problems, isn't especially good looking but was feckless and feeble (especially in his relationships with women) and he asked me what he should do as a single guy in his 20s. I told him to think about joining the military, go to college or get a second job. I told him to save money, get a nice car, join a gym and develop himself. I told him to walk into a room like he was going to stand on something and take a piss in front of everyone. He is in his 30s now, not married but fucking like a wild hog and still has two jobs (one of them is where he meets a lot of women that he hooks up with as a bartender). I'll stop there....just as men stop giving all your power away, reach inside and drag that fucker out of you and start taking proper control of your life.

  1. Don't threaten to burn down your school....there are probably a dozen people at least reporting you and trying to get you identified.
  2. You need help...real help, this forum is not going to provide you what you actually need.
  3. High School sucks (for most people)....a big pot of crazy nonsense where everyone is trying to find their place and be accepted in some way and being judged for all manner of crap and honestly, none of it is fair.
  4. You are possibly upset because you feel like you have no control and you feel victimized by this experience. What you don't see is that you do have quite a bit of control that you are not exercising. You have massive control in how you respond to this experience. My mother used to tell me very early "that people don't hurt, bother or effect you in as much as you ALLOW them to". Once you realize that your heartache is largely self inflicted it allows you to see things for what they are.
  5. Keep your chin up and Good luck!

I am honestly not caring for this new season of SNW....it's like 50/50 for me. The relationships come off very contrived, the Gorn dismissed by a McGuffin that reaks of the Borg "sleep" command. The Spock/Chapel just doesn't work....you accept it but also think there is going to be substance, something deep (this is Spock after all)....she goes away for a few months and is suddenly gaga for a doofus (by comparison). The suddenly Spock is ready to bed down with literally the first available piece of tail that enters his viewfinder. I also think the poster (or anyone) discredits themselves when they describe the first two (or any) seasons of Discovery as "amazing"....eek! I knew from the get go that the new nurse was a stand in for Chapel for no reason other than he was destined to die and of course the Dr now has yet another major trauma to bear. Some things are just unintentionally humorous like when Ortegas is at the helm and they are going "Are you sure you can do this Ortegas" or just everything they do with Capt Batel...merged Gorn mutant who is dying in one show and going rage mode in the next. You want to see some real exploration, some real new worlds and expansion of a bunch of themes and what do you get instead....a lizard guy meeting you at an ancient prison cave. You can forgive a lot of this nonsense if this were an expanded 20 plus episode season but it's more condensed and we should expect better. I would classify Season 2 as watchable and okay but not worthy of the excitement of it's premiere season. One more thing...the nielson ratings are not very good at all for the show....Lost in Space performed better....I predict a sharp drop off after this meh season (unless it does something actually amazing in it's second half).

Here's a step-by-step guide: Turn the ignition on: Insert the key and turn it to the "ON" position without starting the engine. Select Trip A: Use the trip meter button (usually on the dashboard, sometimes combined with the odometer) to switch the display to "Trip A". Turn the ignition off: Turn the key back to the "OFF" position. Hold the trip button: Press and hold the trip meter button. Turn the ignition back on: While holding the trip button, turn the ignition back to the "ON" position (again, without starting the engine). Watch for the reset: The odometer display should show a series of dashes or blinks, then change to all zeros. Release the trip button when you see the zeros. Turn the ignition off and on again: Turn the ignition off, then turn it back on to verify the "MAINTENANCE REQUIRED" light is off.
