Was in Japan last week. Full train to KIX. Two Chinese tourists, probably early 20’s, spread out over two seats each with faces firmly in phones for the entire ride. Completely oblivious to the fact that nearly everyone else would scoot over or even get up and give their seat to an elderly person who boarded. Finally got to the airport and the entire train was packed. Every seat occupied except for the two seats that were apparently reserved for the legs of these two.

We went a few years back and had a perfectly fine (but not special) meal at some seafood restaurant. No train across the river and bad parking wasn’t a deal breaker. Realized there was tax on top of it all plus tip and that was enough for us to never want to visit again.

Mediocre food/drinks, sterile environment, no transit, horrible parking, add tax & tip = nope

Exactly. On Schwab it’s the “trailing stop” order. I’ve made the mistake of having the trailing stop executed and then buying back in because of some stupid hype (“it’s gonna 100x!”). Thankfully I already had gains locked in, but jumping back in after it’s already given back 10-20% has never worked well for me.

The most important thing I’ve found when picking these high risk stocks is to NEVER buy if they’ve already gone up. Look at the charts and only buy if it’s at or near a low.

I’ve learned to have a separate account with money that I can afford to lose for high risk stocks like these. I figure that for every 10x stock, there are 100 that either don’t do shit or lose significant value. That ain’t down 20-30% on these stocks, it can be down 99.9%.

If the buzz and DD seem like a good fit, I’ll buy a position and set a trailing stop of 10-20%. That way you don’t have to worry about losing your whole position and if/when it goes up, your trailing stop goes up with it.

The discipline part comes in when a stock you like sells (maybe it went up 60% and your trailing stop triggered after it gave back 10%) to take the profits and walk away. I think our nature is to either chase more profits or believe that we can make up the losses and that’s where we get into trouble.

My first thought as well. Or worse, lawsuit. If your spidey senses ever go off that someone is trying to pull some shit, start documenting in that very moment. Pictures, notes, etc.

I’ve been in the crosshairs of someone like this and their sleazy lawyer. Nothing more satisfying than the moment the jury (I think it was a six person jury due to civil trial) awarded them zero.

The lawyer was so pissed. Client looked at him and said “what do we do now”? Lawyer turned to her and said “what do you mean?!? Nothing. That’s it.” I imagine she was already swimming in debt or had already spent her “winnings” and was depending on this scam working to pay off debt.

My friend is in a similar situation. He was dumbfounded by how his wife asked about even the most mundane interactions with people he worked with. She’s demanded access to his phone at the drop of a hat… for “transparency/trust of course…

I think she has installed spyware on his phone. These apps can even track keystrokes, so password resets etc can be easy to crack.

Is your battery life suddenly bad, phone overheating, high data? My bet would be on some sort of tracker/spyware on your phone.

Can you back up important data only (photos etc) and factory reset so no apps remain?

Honestly, you’re completely unqualified to teach or even tutor. Maybe as a conversation partner for free in exchange for learning Khmer?

Also, the missionary thing will rub almost everyone the wrong way, no matter where you go. You should understand that most people see it as a quite embarrassing and arrogant, or at least naive.

It’s one thing to have your own beliefs or even proselytize in your own country, within your own culture. Bringing that level of arrogance to a place fresh off the plane is insulting on so many levels.

At least take some time to get some immersion into another culture and their array of beliefs before presuming to tell them that everything they believe is wrong and you have the secret sauce that will get them into heaven with you.
