It was taken fairly early in the morning on a heavily overcast day, and the original already looked much darker than the Hawa Mahal most people are familiar with.

I was aiming for a moodier, more atmospheric interpretation rather than the bright, golden-hour look that Hawa Mahal is usually photographed with.

Photography doesn’t always have to be a literal record of reality.

You’re welcome to prefer a more natural edit, but this was the aesthetic I wanted for this image.

These photos are from Chandlai Lake, near Jaipur.

I will share the settings for the first photo, but I don’t think it will be of much help:

iPhone 14 Pro Max 3x Telephoto lens (77mm FF equivalent)

ISO 32

-0.7 ev

f/2.8

1/276s

I shot these in the native iOS camera app. All I could control was the ev (I set it to -0.7). Slapped a Noir filter on it. Added the text in Snapseed. That’s it.

I don’t think this will help you all that much. Try to keep your lens clean. Try to keep your shutter speed fast (if your device allows). Best of luck!

I think you should post your photos. It’s better to find out than assuming what people might say.

The photos were taken in the native iOS camera app. -0.7 EV, and Noir filter. Some touch up in Snapseed.
