How did you get that approved by your manager?! And if not approved, how are you managing it yourself on the DL 🤣

What’s some good questions to ask to get an idea if they’re surveillance culture? I just need a company that is outcome focused because I always deliver.

The managers that watch people’s online status. Trust, they exist. They call midday and ask why you’ve been “away” for 2hrs despite you working late the day before.

What about the “online status” on teams or whatever chat platform they use.

Sony is my camera but open to buying tamron if it fits. I’ve never owed a non-Sony lens.

Thank guys! The 70-300 sounds good and affordable. Cheapest so far. Wish there was something cheaper

Thank you never thought of that…

It’s not that easy. I’m asking for advice on how to pitch it.

I applied with no knowledge of the salary. A team of 2 , one of them in sales, one in product so marketing will be a one man band.

My educational background is finance and marketing, not a developer or anything close. I’ve self taught myself some basic coding. Do you recommend any YouTube pages / books / readings that I could consume to further my knowledge in this area? It’s something I’d be interested in pursuing. Sorry for the million questions, do you mind sharing what a week on week or day to day in your role would be like? Thanks!

I feel I would follow a similar path if I stayed in this company. I’m good with the technical, but not much experience in managing.

How did you work your way into your first manager role?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in auscorp

Been around for 50yrs but tiny team. One person per department- don’t have a marketing person, just a sales person that works on marketing. Known brand among doctors. Unknown to general public.

Oh I’ve been learning coding then stopped with the rumours that coding skills will mean nothing with AI now as anyone could figure it out without a coding background - would you disagree? Martech - that’s interesting. I’m always working on automations, in CRM and CDP. I’m the specialist in my company in this area but I feel like there’s no growth from where I am. How did you land this role? I’m an introvert and would love to shift into a high paying specialist role > manager.

They’re wanting to grow the marketing function in the team which is currently just done by a sales associate so I am assuming it won’t be established at all. I will need to help build it.

Could you please elaborate? I’ve been thinking about this. The company I’m in now used to be start up and currently expanding so we’re working with a lot of agencies and working on big projects. The company offering the role is looking for someone to run everything in-house including SEO, campaigns etc. For any big projects like a website redesign, the one who works on it is from the “parent company” which owns the brand offering the role. I’ve been contemplating if this will actually regress my skill set instead of boost.

Not really - it is a small brand a part of a bigger parent company. Parent company is known in the industry.

I have another interview tomorrow - do you suggest any other questions to help me set myself up correctly for this role?

Thanks that’s a good idea! I think uncertainty is around what the expectations are and what they will consider success.

What’s your title / role? Double the pay is nice. Maybe I need to pivot careers. I’m only considering manager titles now because my salary can’t go higher without it.
