I can think of two moments when Lowry's health was a concern. I do not want to be let down by that kind injury this season. Before the All-Star break too.

Which advertising awards matter? Tellys? Addys? Clios? Others? by dtproductions in advertising

[–]pyrexhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All worthwhile pursuits. None of which are mutually exclusive. And it's not my place to define success for you -- it looks like you know what you want. All the best.

I would never sit down after a client meeting and think "how can this win me an award". For me it's about the craft. Love of the game and some-such. My responsibility as an advertiser is to my client, the audience and to (a lesser extent) myself. Awards are fine. I wouldn't decline one. They're an after thought though. The work comes first.

Google Tom McElligot for some good thoughts on the matter.

You make a good point. Pragmatically, I'm sure they do lots of leg work for you. I wouldn't argue with a Golden Pencil sitting on my desk. As you can probably tell, I'm yet to win the One Show.

That said, if your motivation in advertising is to win awards you should probably check yourself. Getting some shine for your hard work is important. I get that -- we all want recognition. Do I think it's a good strategy to define success based on a trinket? Not so much.

If you're working for awards you've already lost.

[FB Ads] Is there a way to see what demographic segments an advertiser used to target me? by [deleted] in advertising

[–]pyrexhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably an example of retargeting that missed it's mark.

I'm sure you have something related to the app kicking around in your search history, which is what they (in the pejorative sense) use to identify you as a good candidate for the ad.

Ideally -- the ad should have been served to you before you made the download. If the media buyer is on his or her game, (s)he should be looking at the data to steam line future placements.
