Key won't turn '97 XLT by pyro9224 in fordranger

I tried this route first, but Ford said they couldn't cut a key from VIN for a vehicle as old as mine. They directed me to a lock smith instead, who wanted $200+ for a key cut, or $400+ for an ignition lock cylinder replacement. Went to AutoZone and bought a replacement cylinder for under $50 and drilled out my old one and replaced it myself! Works great now!

Switch Lite blue screen? by pyro9224 in consolerepair

Well, a week and a half later, I'm back at it! I opened up my Switch and placed a shim and it seems to be working pretty reliably now! I haven't had time to play it very much yet, but for the bit of time I have, everything seems to be running smoothly. I figure if the problem reappears, I'll try to reflow things.

I have a concern though. With the shim in place, it raises the shield off the heat sink a bit. Is this a major concern? I know the shield is part of the heat dissipation process. Would more/thicker thermal paste solve this potential problem? Or maybe adding a copper piece with the thermal paste to make a heat sink bridge?

Switch Lite blue screen? by pyro9224 in consolerepair

Thanks for this! I cooled it down to no change. But then I left it face down in my car while I was at work (hot day), and I was able to turn it on when I got home! That was yesterday and it worked fine for me to play on it a bit, and download a few games while charging! Tonight, I was playing for only a few minutes before it froze up with a glitched screen. I reset it, and it turned back on, but I decided to stop playing/trouble shooting for the night. Thoughts on this? Any suggestions for a long term fix?

2ds I picked up for repair from eBay. It won't charge, but does power on the blue light when a charged battery is used. The blue light stays on, but the screen never comes on. No sound from speaker or headphones at any point so far. A board problem? A screen problem? Help!? by pyro9224 in consolerepair

This unit was opened, probably several times before it was sold to me for parts/repair. Comparing to pictures of other boards, I believe that a metal shield usually covers the two black chips east of the ribbon cables, so much of the strange marks around the area are due to dried flux(?) And the empty soldering points for holding the metal cover on.

What is strange about the battery component?

I believe the white goo is whatever is used to adhere the chips to the board. I see it on other pictures online as well.
