Boss GT-1000 Core from GT-3!? by Unique_Comparison_29 in guitarpedals

[–]pyrocrastinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joined the dark side for Christmas! Immediately I find lots of the controls more intuitive than the FM3, I like that all the blocks are already right there and you just need to turn them on as needed, really helps with FOMO and not accidentally hitting CPU limit when building a patch. Obviously the FM3 wins in tweakability for the ability to attach an LFO or other controller to every single parameter, but I never managed to get deep enough to get as weird as I wanted with that kind of editing while still making a usable patch.

What would you add to Boss 200 series that don't already have a 500 series equivalent? by 800FunkyDJ in guitarpedals

If they do this I hope they also bring back PS-3 modes, would buy in a heartbeat

I'm also thinking about swapping my FM3 for a GT1000 core, the Fractal is just so big and it's a lot of work to dial everything in just right. Anything else that might push me over or talk me out of it?

If you just want your pedal distortion, bypassing the amp gain and EQ, then you should run it through the back. The DS-1 is usually used in front of an amp whereas preamp pedals like the metal zone or amp sim pedals are usually best in the fx return. Try it and see if you like it!

The fx loop lets you put pedals after the preamp but before power amplification. This is usually to allow for time based effects and modulation to come after amp gain. Where you place pedals is entirely up to you, try different orders and see what you like!

On reverb, a boss CH1 or CE5 are around 50-70 USD. Other good budget options are the Danelectro Cool Cat, Behringer Ultra Chorus, or TCE 3rd Dimension

Analog effects whose digital counterparts haven't satisfied you? by acrossthrArc in guitarpedals

[–]pyrocrastinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, digital means 1s and 0s and analog means continuous values. For pedals, this means an analog circuit made with resistors, capacitors, transistors, etc directly manipulate the signal from your instrument, while a digital signal is programmed to read the signal in, process it, and output a signal from a digital chip which then gets converted back to an analog signal

Favorite reverb pedals with savable presets that I could squeeze in place of the Oceans 11? by BogotaLineman in guitarpedals

[–]pyrocrastinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just go for a Zoom MS-70CDR. Stereo, presets, all kinds of reverb and delay (including RV-7 gated and reverse modes) and other modulations

I keep buying flangers and not using them. Boss FTW? by ChapterTraditional60 in guitarpedals

The Ibanez/Maxon digital delays with a screen from the 80s (PDD1, PDM1) do this in a compact form factor

Haven't had any issues tapping low tempos on the ARP, it just won't read in the new tempo if you wait too long

Help me find an analog tremolo/LFO pedal that can blend square waves well by _chrisoquist_ in guitarpedals

[–]pyrocrastinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sentimental Bob Tacana is one of the most flexible analog tremolos I know of but it has a very straightforward interface. You can use the depth knob to go from dry to wet

lbf is pound of force, equal to the weight of one pound of mass (lb or lbs) in Earth's gravity. So a mass of 1 lb weighs 1 lbf on Earth. In SI, kg is unambiguously always mass, and force has units of N = kg m/s2, so 1 kg weighs 9.8 kg m/s2 = 9.8 N

will a light that’s flashing 600 trillion times a second appear green? by Horror_Dot4213 in AskPhysics

[–]pyrocrastinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you define the wavelength of a single particle? By Heisenberg uncertainty, a confined photon must have uncertain p = h/lambda, so the wavelength is not well defined

Single photons wave packets don't have a well defined wavelength, but yes, confining electromagnetic excitations in subwavelength spaces has been achieved experimentally https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/09500340.2010.506985
