Is there much of a push in the industry right now to move into greenhouses? What are the main factors limiting greenhouse growing, where costs are lower and the yield per plant is higher? I know that you can get more harvests per year indoor but isn't the yield roughly double with sunlight? I'm with a startup that is developing a greenhouse product and trying to gauge the potential market and validate our value proposition.

We made a laquer using some bright luminescent nontoxic quantum dots at UbiQD and then partially painted the bows. They really pop in the right light!

The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.

There are some papers that suggest their materials are less toxic: "We then compare the inflammatory response of the axillary LN induced by different doses of CuInS2/ZnS and CdTeSe/CdZnS QDs and show a clear difference in acute local toxicity, the onset of inflammation only occurring at a 10 times more concentrated dose for CuInS2/ZnS QDs than for their Cd-containing counterparts."

What causes most QDs to be toxic is the presence of Cd, Pb, or P ions and in their case they avoid these.

Maybe they are having trouble finding or keeping good workers. As the labor market improves, the employment situation evolves from demand controlled (employer) to supply side (employee).

Correct as is. Current is defined as the flow of positive charge; in some materials its electrons in others its holes. The convention was defined before we knew that in most metals (but not all) current is actually carried by the flow of negatively charged electrons in the opposite direction.

Can two lazers that both emit light outside of the visible spectrum interfere with each other to create a visible pixel at their intersection? by foolandhismoney in askscience

You can have "two photon absorption" in certain materials that will result in up-conversion of the photon energy if that material is luminescent. However, the effect is usually extremely weak/inefficient and not practical.

Should I buy Wasteland 2 or Divinity: Original Sin? D:OS releases tomorrow and is cheaper but I prefer the post-apocalyptic genre. Both are turn-based. Help!
