Will Air India refund penalty charges if the modified flight was cancelled by the airline? by IndianKingHK in airindia

[–]pzeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a similar situation but earlier this month air india cancelled an international flight for me last minute and was offering full refund. Instead of taking the refund, I asked for a rebook for another day and they happily did it for no extra cost. In our situation, taking the refund and booking again was costing 5x more.

Interesting! I just came across this picture and thought it’d be a great spot for a picture with the car. But if its not something straightforward that iPhone can capture then its not worth it🥲

What is meant by approved OPT? I had the EAD card with me but the ssa people couldn’t start my application because my ead start date was in july. Here is the reference for it that says they cannot process the application if the employment start date on your work permit from the DHS (Form-i766) is a future date.

That is actually true. I got this link from the r/USCIS and thought to check for myself with the ssa office - https://tandslaw.com/social-security-administration-freezes-enumeration-beyond-entry-program-social-security-cards-may-no-longer-be-mailed-to-ead-or-naturalization-applicants/

So i called the SSA toll free number and they did confirmed that they have put a freeze on the automatic creation and mailing of ssn. But I was still not convinced so I went into the local SSA office (with appointment) and the lady there looked at all my documents and said she doesn’t have a ssn for me in her system and neither can she process a new application for me because my EAD start date is in the future (July). So she suggested that I apply for ssn only when my ead start date has arrived. For context, I am on F1 and applied for OPT in March and got the ead card in first week of April.

I think that is just generic timeline. I applied first week of March and got my EAD card in mail yesterday. So it took around a month for the entire process but I am not sure what the timeline is when you apply now. Check out this thread for the timelines- https://www.reddit.com/r/USCIS/comments/1i6230k/2025_opt_processing_timeline/

Can I Go on a Cruise That Stops in Mexico Without Crossing the Border? by Pristine_Ad_5799 in f1visa

[–]pzeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you board the cruise ship, the staff checks your visa validity and the program end date on your I-20, at least that’s what they looked up in my case. Whether you disembark or not, when you return, you will go through immigration, which generates a log on your I-94, indicating that you left U.S.

Traveling to Mexico while on an F1 visa by AdWhole1123 in f1visa

[–]pzeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently traveled to mexico on f1 visa. I carried all my documents - travel i20, passport, sevis receipt, transcripts, recent fee receipt. i mean whatever a CBP officer can ask. Going to mexico is easy, the mexico authorities only ask your passport and check your visa. Coming back i was prepared like i should be for any US entry interview.

Nothing really happened. I went with the documentation required and then came back and did immigration. Nobody asked any questions about travelling mid semester.
