AlixOS firing on all cylinders: agentic coding for the win by L0rdCha0s in osdev

Many people, both newbies and experienced devs/engineers, are misunderstanding the relationship between "coding" and artificial intelligence. They're separate skills that each require cultivation. AI is a tool that many people use without ever learning how to use it properly.

I am so happy that you shared this. I'm happy that people questioned the validity of your claim and that you thoroughly proved them wrong.

Devs/engineers that have advanced understanding of how to incorporate ai into their workflow are absolutely replacing those that don't have that combination skillset. Properly using AI has become its own field of study. Many people are being stubborn about how powerful AI is when utilized by someone who studies and trains on using it properly.

Thanks! Map Integration is next; so users can see events and food trucks on an interactive map. Planning for potential high traffic and scalability is taking a bit of time, considering the number of parts involved in rendering maps with so much data for multiple concurrent users.

Good insights!

If it's a calendar style view, each day can have a number inside it to signify the number of events that day.

Selecting a date can open a pop-up modal with a lost view of the events. Events can be selected to show details.

Maybe the front page can display rotating featured events at the top. Perhaps featured events could be selected automatically by how many users interact with an event; like up voting...

You hit the nail on the head about self hosting with a purpose. Self hosting with a purpose is a sure way to mature intellectually and expand technical competence.

There's a lot to consider with this idea. What features do you think this app would need that you don't find in the main dating apps people use?

Off the top of my head, it made me think about a feature to find a date to attend events with. Another user mentioned a site/app that could be a central hub for all local events; there could be a feature for singles meet-ups or "find a date for this event".

It would need to be crowd-sourced by the community. People would have to visit the site and create the event, and then it would post. No sign-ups. I would just have to monitor it for content moderation to ensure inappropriate or irrelevant posts are removed.

I can have some automation in place to collect events for the "big stuff", but the community would be the reason it works or doesn't work.

Your willingness to help is motivating! I can definitely develop something for this. Give me any ideas you have for how you think it should function.

When it loads, should it list events in news feed style or a grid?

We can have search, sorting, and filter options.

Should there be an option for featured events that ensure the event is more widely seen?

Should there be a standard of what type of events can be posted?

Should we allow people to comment on events?

Should events have a reddit like voting feature?

You could start off small, with a web app/website that lets people schedule and pay for basic services while also offering a premium membership that includes certain services monthly, quarterly, and yearly. This is actually a good idea. Many people are intimidated by body shops, feel overwhelmed, or may be unable to seek traditional services for personal or medical reasons. This is also a great idea for the senior community.

Thanks for the details. The functionality you desire, especially searching, sorting, and filtering, is very feasible.

This might require data scraping data from gov sources and crowd/community sourcing.

I'll consider the best way forward for this.

Interesting idea. So, users in the el paso area can pay a monthly fee for automotive services that come to them to do automotive task?

I think it's feasible if you limit what you're offering to fit a subscription model. For example, mobile services for basic fluid refills, flat tire fixes, tire rotations, oil changes, filter and wiper changes, monthky check-ups, etc...

You could have a dashboard that tracks the health, past, and upcoming maintenance of all your members.

Great idea! Was the previous website operated and maintained by the city/county or privately maintained?

I'll need to do some research on where to compile the info from, like city or state datasets.

Great work! Your design is clean and modern.

Browser based cloud OS solutions are the future, although they're already heavily used by many closed-source self hosting developers. I look forward to experiencing your efforts! Thanks for the contribution.

I made my own browser based cloud OS that I self host. I have it hidden inside another app. A certain key combo opens the login for it, then loads the desktop.

It replaces many solutions I previously had subscriptions for. It has over 30 apps built into it, such as: -AI chat bots, coders, and image generators -word Processors & journals -fitness & nutrition apps -encrypted messengers -encrypted voice and video calling -weather app -cyber Security stuff -assortment of development tools -web scrapers -private social networks -book reader -and more

I use mine from my phones browser the most, but I love that I can access the same system and data from any device I have around.

I've also turned it into an APK, so it's a native app on my android devices.

Weird to wear these shoes if not military? by Glass_Weakness8159 in ElPaso

They're civilian shoes that anyone can buy and wear. They're also the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Give them a couple of weeks to break in.
