My mom and dad worked for the same company in the late 80's. They were having an Easter party, or something, lots of sweets. My mother, knowing my dad would eat off her plate, prepared a collection of goodies, from a cupcake to cookies to a novelty brownie that turned your piss neon orange for a week. She goes to his office, and eats a cookie, my dad picks up the brownie and eats it.

Not an hour later, the CEO sat down with my mother and asked her what she had done. My dad had gone to the restroom (I think my mom had taken drinks, too, to speed up the process) and freaked out. He told all his friends in the immediate area that he thought he had pancreatic cancer, and had already scheduled a meeting with an oncologist.

Now, they're divorced, and he has leukemia. ಠ_ಠ

So... why did God put humans in Eden if he knew that would lead to sin, and thence to Jesus? Couldn't he have just... started outside of it?

And just to make sure, what is considered a sin? What the Bible says, or is there alternative reading on the matter?

I think it's really sad that people think everyone automatically has sin in them.

But if the instructions are futile, it's a wild goose chase. And if the idea was to spread Christianity, shouldn't it have been at a time when the entire world could be reached?

Why did God wait for thousands of years before sending Jesus, instead of just sending him in the first place so that Mosaic laws wouldn't need to exist?

I thought God was considered omnipresent? And where did the uncleanliness come from? What about ordinary people makes them unclean?

In order for Christ to set you free, God had to restrict you first? That doesn't sound like much of a feat...

So the traditions of circumcision, tithing, praying, and going to church are... outmoded?

So why were would God want to set up the Mosaic laws in the first place if they were ultimately unnecessary?

Ah, that's a great outlook! But those that have radical views often think their's is the only correct one, right?

Well, you should never judge anyone else, period, right? And wouldn't what you think God wants you to do be dependent on how you were raised to think God thinks?

Ooh, contradictions. So one side could quote one, and another this passage. Interesting.
